Mit dem iPhone Xs macht Apple einen Sprung in die richtige Richtung, nämlich hin zu noch mehr Stabilität und Leistung. Das iPhone X war schon ein sehr gutes Smartphone, das iPhone Xs macht einiges noch besser. So ist es sehr schnell, bedeutend stabiler, was die Verbindungen und die Display-Leistung betrifft und insgesamt ist die Bedienung irgendwie “runder” geworden.

Modell: Das Apple iPhone XS gehört zu den jüngsten iPhones, die kürzlich auf den Markt gebracht wurden. Es unterscheidet sich fast gar nicht vom iPhone X. In der Apple-Welt war S immer ein Hinweis auf Schnelligkeit und das iPhone XS ist Träger der neuen Apple-Chip-Generation, nämlich des A12 Bionic. Dabei handelt es sich um den ersten (verfügbaren) System-on-Chip, der im 7 nm High-Tech-Prozess hergestellt wurde und einen 15 % schnelleren Prozessor und eine 50 % schnellere Grafik bietet. Das Highlight des A12 ist jedoch die zweite Generation NPU, die 5 Trillionen Operationen pro Sekunde schafft – eine riesige Verbesserung in der Machine-Learning-Szene. Dennoch ist das iPhone XS ein schönes Gerät. Es sieht auf elegante Weise minimalistisch, wurde aus qualitativ hochwertigem Material gefertigt, das erlesen wirkt, und liegt perfekt in der Hand. Dank seines einfachen Aussehens ist es schlanker und schöner als die Konkurrenz. Es ist in schwarz, weiß und gold erhältlich und sieht wie ein Luxusprodukt aus. Der rostfreie Stahlrahmen hat eine angenehme Haptik und ist zudem stärker als das Aluminium, welches in Geräten wie dem iPhone XR oder iPhone 8 Plus verwendet wird. Das iPhone XS kleidet sich in Glas. Ganz egal wie sehr Apple seine Robustheit herausstreicht, neigt es dennoch zu Bruch, wenn man es fallen lässt. Der Kauf eines Etuis zum Schutz dieser hochpreisigen Investition ist jedenfalls empfehlenswert. Das Phone ist IP68-zertifiziert wasserfest. Der Bildschirm ist also viel größer, obwohl die Abmessungen des Gehäuses nur marginal angewachsen sind. Die Größe ist perfekt. Sie reicht, dass Videos und Filme immersiv wirken, ist jedoch nicht so groß, dass es schwierig wird, das Phone mit einer Hand zu nutzen. Der Bildschirm ist farbenfroh ohne übersättigt zu wirken und die OLED-Technologie lässt schwarz wirklich tief aussehen. Der Bildschirm löst mit 2.436 x 1.125 Pixeln (458 PPI) auf und er ist scharf. Die Akkulaufzeit des iPhone XS ist ähnlich wie beim Vorgänger. Apple hat mit seinem neuen A12 Bionic Prozessor einige beeindruckende Fortschritte gemacht, welchen ihn effizienter sowie leistungsstärker als seinen A11 Bionic Vorgänger machen. Apple behauptet, dass das XS bis zu 30 Minuten länger durchhält als das iPhone X, was angemessen erscheint. Bei normaler Verwendung werden User nie nach einer Stromdose suchen, sondern den Low-Power-Modus aktivieren, wenn sie gerade nicht laden können. Insgesamt ist das iPhone XS eine schlichte Verbesserung des iPhone X. Dennoch handelt es sich weiterhin um ein iPhone perfekter Größe, das Spitzenleistung und eine ausgezeichnete Kamera bietet. Es richtet sich mit dem elegantesten Modell, das User heuer kaufen können, an Menschen, die einzig ein gutes und leistungsstarkes iPhone suchen.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

A12 Bionic: System on a Chip (SoC) von Apple, der im iPhone Xs / Xr verbaut wird.
