Danke, aber nein danke. Das iPhone Xs Max ist ein tolles Gerät, kann mich aber nicht dazu bringen, vom Note 9 zu wechseln. Dazu fehlen mir ein paar Features und das Wenige, was das Xs Max besser macht, kann nicht die Nachteile und den höheren Preis wettmachen. Wer allerdings nicht von einem Android-Spitzenmodell sondern einem Einsteiger- oder Mittelklasse-Gerät zum Xs Max wechselt, wird begeistert sein.

Modell: Beim Apple iPhone XS Max dreht sich alles um seinen massiven, schönen Bildschirm, der andere spielend übertrifft. In den letzten Jahren waren iPhones in „Plus“-Größe definitiv besser. Der größere „Plus“-Bildschirm geht auch mit einer längeren Akkulaufzeit wie bei kleineren iPhones und Dual-Kamera-System anstatt einfacher Linsen einher. Allerdings nennt sich dieses 6,5-Zoll-Modell iPhone XS Max statt „Plus“, weil es größer ist als das 5,8-zöllige iPhone XS. Ansonsten sind die beiden praktisch identisch. Das iPhone XS Max gehört tatsächlich zu den super-großen Phones, deren Bedienung schwieriger ist. Das liegt daran, dass sie marginal größer sind. Rostfreier Stahl lässt sie luxuriös aussehen, ist aber weniger griffig. Die Rückseite aus Glas glänzt je nach Lichteinfall unterschiedlich und der glänzende rostfreie Stahl in dazu passender Farbe verleiht einen edlen Hauch. Das XS Max widersteht laut IP68-Zertifikat Staub und Wasser. Das heißt, es überlebt Eintauchen in Wasser bis zu einer Tiefe von 2 Metern für bis zu 30 Minuten. Dagegen sind es bei den IP67-zertifizierten iPhone X und iPhone 8 nur 1 mm Wassertiefe die gleiche Zeit lang. Das iPhone XS Max nutzt Apples jüngsten Prozessor, den A12 Bionic mit sechs Kernen, der laut Hersteller 15 % schneller und bis zu 50 % effizienter sein soll als der A11 Bionic vom vorigen Jahr. Doch den Unterschied macht anscheinend der neunmal schneller integrierte AI-Chip. Der neue A12 Bionic wurde nicht nur mit 64 GB, 256 GB oder 512 GB Flash-Speicher kombiniert, sondern auch mit 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM, womit das iPhone eine neuen Höchststand erreicht.

Das iPhone XS Max ist mit einem HDR 6,5-Zoll Super Retina HD Bildschirm mit einer Auflösung von 2.688 x 1.242 Pixeln bei 458 PPI ausgestattet. Der Bildschirm unterstützt HDR, deckt den DCI-P3 Farbraum ab, bietet eine maximale Helligkeit von 624 cd/m2 und ein typisches Kontrastverhältnis von 1:1.000.000. Außerdem ist das OLED-Panel mit einer sRGB-Abdeckung von 123 % ziemlich farbenfroh. Die meiste Fotographie erledigt das 12-MP-Dual-Kamerasystem an der Rückseite. Es wurde gegenüber dem iPhone X etwas verbessert. Ein größerer Sensor verbessert noch vor der Software seine Leistung unter schlechten Lichtbedingungen. Es gibt eine f/1.8-Blende für Weitwinkel und eine f/2.4-Blende für Telephoto. Der optische Zoom blieb 2-fach bei 10-fachen digitalen Zoom. Das TrueDepth-Kamerasystem ist nicht nur für Selfies sondern auch für FaceID verantwortlich. Es handelt sich um eine 7-MP-Kamera mit f/2.2-Blende. Die vom XS Max aufgenommen Fotos sehen für sich herausragend aus, doch verglichen mit dem X ist der Unterscheid nur klein. Der Audio-Verstärker im iPhone XS Max ist so gut, dass sich User den Anschluss von Bluetooth-Lautsprechern zweimal überlegen werden. Apple sagt, er würde den Stereo-Sound erweitern, sodass dieser mehr Details liefert. Das iPhone XS Max verfügt über eine größere Kapazität von 3.174 mAh. Es ist das Phone der Wahl, wenn User eine lange Akkulaufzeit wünschen. Das iPhone XS Max ist ein erstaunliches Gerät. Es ist auf sehr ähnliche Weise vollgestopft mit Technologie wie das Original-iPhone. Am meisten sprechen sein enorm großer, prächtiger Bildschirm, der wirklich nur zum Video oder Fotoschauen nützlich ist, für einen Kauf. Es handelt sich um ein Phone ohne Kompromisse bei der Hardware zu einem gleichermaßen kompromisslosen Preis.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

A12 Bionic: System on a Chip (SoC) von Apple, der im iPhone Xs / Xr verbaut wird. Basiert auf sechs 64-Bit-fähige ARM-Kernen (2 Performance, 4 Stromsparkerne) und soll laut Apple 15% schneller als der A11 sein.
