Doogee S60

Das Doogee S60 ist eine solide wirkende Smartphone-Bestie. Groß, schwer, robust und strapazierfähig, es macht einen sehr widerstandsfähigen Eindruck. Immer mehr Smartphone-Hersteller beteiligen sich am Markt für robuste Geräte, was wenig überraschend ist, da es auf diesem Gebiet noch wenig Konkurrenz gibt, die Gewinnmargen aber aufgrund der höheren Verkaufspreise dieser Mobilgeräte interessant sind. Das S60 gibt es in scharz, gold oder silber, noch dazu entwarf der Hersteller besondere “Game-of-Thrones-Editionen”. Wie so manche Konkurrenten wählten auch die (spanischen) Designer das klassische achteckige Gehäuse (vier schräge Ecken sowie vier lange Seiten), welches meist mit strapazierfähigen Smartphones assoziiert wird. Mit 285g ist das S60 eines der schwersten Smartphones, es wiegt fast doppelt so viel wie ein Apple iPhone 8. Die Dimensionen von 163 x 83 x 17 mm sind ebenfalls überdurchschnittlich. Dies scheint bei Doogee ein Leitmotiv zu sein, denn anstatt Gummi wird eine Kombination aus Metall (raumfahrttaugliches Aluminium) und hochverdichtetem Polycarbonat-Kunststoff eingesetzt, um die Widerstandsfähigkeit des Gerätes gegenüber Stößen und Erschütterungen zu erhöhen, womit es eine wohlverdiente IP68-Zertifizierung erhielt. Der Bildschirm, ein 5,2-Zoll-IPS-Display mit Full-HD-Auflösung, ist mit einem Corning-Gorilla-Glass-5-Belag überzogen, wodurch es vor Kratzern geschützt sein dürfte. Der IPS-Bildschirm bietet tolle Farbenwiedergabe, die die meisten zufriedenstellen sollte, und er sieht sogar im Freien, wo das S60 voraussichtlich am öftesten zum Einsatz kommen wird, toll aus.

Da der Bildschirm im Vergleich zu anderen Geräten weniger anfällig für Fingerabdrücke ist, scheint es noch eine fettabweisende Beschichtung zu geben. Der Fingerabdruckleser befindet sich mitsamt dem Kamerasensor, dem Lautsprecher sowie der Dual-LED auf der Rückseite. Die SIM- und micro-SD-Schlitze findet man unter einer Metallabdeckung. Bei den Komponenten für das S60 hat Doogee keine Abstriche gemacht: Dieses Flagschiff-Smartphone erhielt erstklassige Hardware (nun ja, fast). Im Gerät werkt eines der leistungsstärksten SoCs, die es außerhalb von Qualcomms Angebot gibt: der MediaTek Helio P25, der von 6 GB Premium-LPDDR4-Arbeitsspeicher und 64 GB Flash-Speicher von Samsung unterstützt wird. Die Kamerasensoren stammen ebenfalls von Samsung und Sony. Die Hauptkamera mit 21 Megapixel kann nur Full-HD-Aufnahmen machen, obwohl die Mediatek-P25-CPU mit 4K klarkommt. Das S60 ist unter robusten Smartphones einzigartig, denn es bündelt sowohl NFC als auch kabelloses Laden, wodurch Nutzer die Schnittstellen des Gerätes völlig umgehen könnten. Wie erwartet, läuft auf dem Gerät Android 7.0, und es gibt nicht allzu viele zusätzliche Apps. Eine der mitgelieferten Anwendungen ist Zello, eine Art Walkie-Talkie/Push-to-Talk-Lösung, die besonders für Teams nützlich ist. Eine weitere Anwendung ist DGXender, eine schicke Lösung für Datentransfer zwischen kompatiblen Geräten. Die herausragendste App ist die passend benannte Toolbox, deren Werkzeuge die Unzahl von Sensoren des S60 benutzen, um die Funktionalität zu liefern, die ein Outdoor-Profi (beim Außeneinsatz oder auf einer Baustelle) erwartet.

Doogee liefert mit dem S30 ein Outdoor Smartphone im unteren Preisbereich. Dafür bekommt man echte IP68 Fähigkeit und ein schickes Gerät. Enttäuschend ist aber die absolut unzureichende Kamera. In diesem Preisbereich muss man allerdings auch bei den alternativen Geräten Abstriche machen. Wer also die Kamera nicht braucht, bekommt hier ein super Outdoor-Gerät für wenig Geld.

Doogee hält das Versprechen ein: Dank IP-68-Zertifizierung und solider Verarbeitung überlebt das Doogee S50 in unserem Test 24 Stunden unter Wasser. Auch die Akkulaufzeit mit rund acht Stunden geht in Ordnung. Hervorzuheben ist darüber hinaus der große Speicher von 128 GB bei unserem Modell sowie der Arbeitsspeicher von 6 GB bei allen Modellvarianten. Auch die Bildqualität der Kameras ist für die Preisklasse okay.

Es fällt schwer, das Doogee objektiv zu bewerten, denn dieses Smartphone kann man nicht mal in den Vergleich zu sonstige Outdoor-Smartphones stellen, da das S80 nicht annährend als Daily-Driver gedacht ist. Schade hingegen ist, dass gerade die Walkie-Talkie Funktion nicht einsatzfähig und das GPS nicht auf Höhe sonstiger Smartphones im Outdoor-Segment ist.

The Doogee S40 is unlocked and does have select band support for T-Mobile and AT&T. Similarly, it should work for Cricket, Metro, and the other MVNO brands. It’s more geared to European markets, though, and we caution against recommending it for US buyers. Occasionally we’ll suggest a phone for Wi-Fi or hotspots for people looking to buy something for their kids. Would we recommend this for someone who has young users in the house or accident prone children? Probably not in the US.

However, at £100 it does have a place in the market, because it’s perhaps the most rugged Android phone you can buy in this price range right now. If you’re on a tight budget and need a phone that will withstand some punishment then the S40 is worth a look, but you’d be better off investing a little more cash and getting the Doogee S90 or AGM A9.

Doogee itself says that the phone has an 18-day standby. I guess maybe in Airplane mode this would be possible, however, I did not test this. It also claims 10-hour use for constant video viewing or gaming, and 28 hours of talk time. For me, I am just happy that it can get through almost three days of normal use without needing a charger. The Easy key allowed me to map the Camera to it, so we can forgive the lack of a dedicated camera button in this case. Like I said earlier, this phone is mostly for a specific use case. I would recommend it to construction workers who find it important to have a smartphone on hand, they can toss it around and rinse it under the tap and it will still keep working. However, it is a shame that Doogee makes such a product and then will only back it with support for one year. At $399, it's a good buy, but not for the touted $599.99 MSRP. Maybe Doogee would be able to offer a better experience if it settled for a mid-range camera experience and with a higher-end SoC and display, but that's wishful thinking.

To me, the Doogee S89 Pro is an interesting device. It starts with a fairly decent set of specifications, expanding upon that with the hardcore rugged design and added "armor" found inside the box. If only there were certain other accessories in the box... I actually really enjoyed testing the Doogee S89 Pro, and the ruggedness is a big part of that. I mean really, who wouldn't have fun dropping a phone to see if it breaks over and over again. Checking if it floats? Again, more fun. The wanna-be Batman aesthetic equally so. Even the size and weight, although a bit goofy in 2022, is kind of cute and laughable. It not every phone that claims to be as rugged and durable as this S89 Pro does, and the huge 12000 mAh battery really pushes that rugged versatility to the limit and back. It's rare to be able to venture on a multi-day outdoor experience, and expect to have battery to spare at the end of the fun... but with the Doogee S89 Pro's huge battery capacity, that does hold true. I think that during my 30-day evaluation period I charged this phone just three times, and that is after lots of benchmarking, gaming, and photography. Das Doogee S99 ist ein robustes Smartphone mit zahlreichen Apps und Funktionen, die sich an Handwerker richten. Sein Helio G96 SoC bewältigt grundlegende Funktionen, aber anspruchsvollere Aufgaben sind damit nicht zu stemmen. Andere Funktionen bedeuten interessante Ergänzungen, die dem Gesamtpaket wenig hinzufügen. Das S99 könnte jedoch für diejenigen interessant sein, die ein robustes Telefon zu einem aggressiven Preis suchen.

The Doogee S96 GT offers 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage and is available in 3 color variants- Black, Orange, and Gold. Performance in the S96 GT is carried out by the 12nm Mediatek Helio G95 chipset that goes up to a max of 2.05GHz clocking speed. Furthermore, the device runs on the latest Android 12 OS. Doogee:

Doogee Mobile Limited Company ist ein kleiner chinesischer Hersteller und produziert Smartphones unter der Marke Doogee. Die Marke zählt unter den klassischen China Handys zu den Ältesten und existiert bereits seit 2013. Doogee selbst gibt an in Spanien gegründet worden zu sein, was allerdings nur ein Marketing Trick ist. Doogee ist bekannt für seine robusten und outdoortauglichen Smartphones2.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.

ARM Mali-T880 MP2: ARM-Grafikchip für Smartphones und Tablets mit 2 Clustern.

ARM Mali-G71 MP2: Integrierte Grafikkarte z.B. im Mediatek Helio P23 SoC mit zwei der 32 Shader Kernen. Unterstützt OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan 1.0, OpenCL 2.0, DirectX 11 FL11_1, RenderScript.

ARM Mali-G72 MP3: Integrierte Grafikkarte (z.b. im Mediatek Helio P60 mit 800 MHz) mit 3 Kernen / Clustern.

Imagination PowerVR GM9446: Die PowerVR GM9446 ist eine Mittelklassegrafikkarte für Smartphones basierend auf die Rogue Architektur von IMG. Sie Unterstützt OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan 1.1, OpenCL 1.2 und Android NN HAL.

ARM Mali-G76 MP4: Integrierte Grafikkarte basierend auf die Bifrost Architektur der 2. Generation mit 4 Clustern. Laut ARM etwa doppelt so schnell wie eine G72 mit gleicher Anzahl an Clustern.

3D Spiele sind auf diesen Vertretern nur in Ausnahmen spielbar, grundsätzlich sind die Grafiklösungen hierfür jedoch nicht geeignet. Office Programme und Internet surfen dürfte jedoch ohne Problem möglich sein.

ARM Mali-T720 MP2: Integrierte Grafikkarte für ARM basierte SoCs mit 2 Clustern (T720 MP2) und max. 650 MHz Taktrate. Unterstützt OpenGL ES 3.1, OpenCL 1.1, DirectX 11 FL9_3 und Renderscript.
