Samsung Galaxy J7 Mini Review: Large, Vibrant Screen for Under $250
Quelle: Tom's Guide Englisch EN→DE Archive.org version
If you're looking for a sub-$250 phone that has the look, feel and features of Samsung's Galaxy line, the Samsung Galaxy J7 sounds like a strong choice. Price-sensitive shoppers will appreciate the large display, quality camera, promising battery life and special Samsung features. However, users who want a sharper screen should consider the Huawei Honor 5X, which packs a 1080p display for less than $200. Those who want a Samsung phone with a gyroscope, better audio quality, water resistance or a high-res screen should expand their budgets for the Galaxy S7 or consider getting a refurbished Galaxy S5.

Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) Review: Loses Out To Chinese Competitors
Quelle: Techtree.com Englisch EN→DE Archive.org version
Priced at Rs 16,000, the Galaxy J7 (2016) improves upon its predecessor. It comes with a sturdy metal frame, rich OLED screen, and great battery life. Samsung's software too brings a few neat features to the table. However, in terms of raw power and camera, it is nowhere near the similarly priced phones. In fact, the more affordable phones such as the Le Eco Le 2, Lenovo ZuK Z1, and even Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 outperform it on many fronts. Add the silly omission of the ambient sensor to the list, and I would advice to give this handset a miss.

A long lasting and basic metal frame smartphone

The Galaxy J7 (2016) is not really a bad phone, I think most Samsung fans will definitely enjoy using it especially for its amazing battery performance, nice additional memory storage and maybe the ultra saving modes features too for those who are watching their Internet quota. You also get fairly nice looking metal frame Samsung phone and everything else that comes with it such as the Galaxy Life vouchers and various other apps (bloatware).

Make no mistake, with an asking price of RM799 for the J5 and RM999 for the J7, you're pretty much paying a premium for the Samsung brand instead of actual performance. If you're one of those people that wouldn't be caught dead with a phone that isn't from a well recognized international brand, the J5 and J7 can be considered. However, if the Samsung name doesn't mean all that much to you, then you should probably opt for one of the many entry/mid-level smartphones that come from brands located in mainland China.

For $230, the Samsung Galaxy J7 is a very capable phablet held back only by mixed camera performance and lackluster call quality. Unless you're keen on a stylus, the J7 is a better buy than the $180 Stylo 2, thanks to its more powerful processor, dual-band Wi-Fi, and NFC support. It's also a better deal than the aging ZTE Boost Max+ ($199.99), which has outdated hardware and software. Short of an expensive, high-end phone like the Apple iPhone 6s Plus$299.99 at Best Buy, you won't find a better phablet on Boost Mobile.

So, Samsung have a new meal on the menu but it's the good old recipe. In fairness, the Galaxy J7 (2016) isn't one of the chef's best, so anyone can understand why it doesn't feature on the specials and why it isn't especially creative with the ingredients. Yet, it sure has some premium dressing. The Galaxy J7 (2106) has finally joined the club and benefits from the design language introduced by last season's flagships. The result is great build quality and looks that most people would enjoy.

After all is said, it’s time to draw the line and see how good the Galaxy J7 6 really is. It’s an improvement in terms of design in the affordable segment, with its metal frame, but the plastic back cover feels cheap and not on par even with cheap Chinese Android phones these days. The lack of a fingerprint scanner is also surprising these days. The display on the J7 6 also falls short of expectations: its colors are off, its a bit on the dim side, and - shockingly - lacks an auto-brightness setting. Audio quality via the loudspeaker is also a disappointment.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 has great battery life, but that's not enough to recommend the device. It's underpowered, has a sub-par camera and doesn't look good. It's not an ideal buy. The Gionee Marathon M5 has better battery life, while the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 offers better performance. The Moto G4 Plus has a better camera.

Style and options that make the mid-range even more attractive
Quelle: Laptop Media Englisch EN→DE Archive.org version
Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) is a great example of what a 2016 mid-range device should be. The smartphone offers pleasant and elegant design, Super AMOLED display with HD resolution that still provides bright and contrasty colors, and an octa-core Exynos CPU that not only ensures high performance but also keeps temperatures exceptionally low. Apart from that, it is very easy on the 3300 mAh battery that impressed us with its amazing results. An undeniable advantage is the latest Android version which is supplemented by some additional features of Samsung’s UI. Additionally, camera performance is decent, the photos taken with it are good considering the price-range, and it also provides a settings menu with manual options and modes. In a nutshell, Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) is a mid-range device with no drawbacks.

Serie: The Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 is a handset for those after a compact phone, one on an affordable contract, or a device that can be bought SIM-free. Most of Samsung’s phones of previous years were plastic, even the fairly expensive devices. The Samsung Galaxy A3 demonstrates just how far the company has moved on from that style. This device is composed of glass and metal, with barely any plastic on show at all. The front and back glass are big-brand Gorilla Glass 4, and the rear features curved edges for a softer feel. Beneath the screen is a reliable fingerprint scanner couched between the two soft keys, just as in Samsung’s larger phones. Also included is a headphone jack. In addition, the Galaxy A3 is water resistant. Its IP68 certification means that an accidental drop in water is unlikely to cause damage. As is the case with the majority of new handsets, the Samsung Galaxy A3 has a USB Type-C charging port rather than micro-USB. The phone has just 16 GB of storage, which is a little disappointing since the device offers only 9.8 GB of available internal memory and 481 MB of RAM without installing any apps. However, there is a slot for a single microSD card in the tray. The Samsung Galaxy A3 has an unusual speaker placement. Rather than sitting on the bottom of the device, it can be found on the side, above the power button. Speaker quality is fine, with enough volume to cut through some ambient noise.

For display, the Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 features a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with punchy colors that can be calibrated to suit the user’s taste. For those who like a super-vivid look, it’s there. If a more relaxed colour is desired, it's possible to just switch to the "Basic" mode in Settings to achieve this. The Samsung Galaxy A3 has a 13 MP rear camera with a f/1.9 lens. However, the camera lacks optical image stabilization. Around the front sits an 8 MP selfie camera. It's capable of producing decent images in good light. The phone uses an Exynos 7870, a CPU with eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 1.6 GHz, and a Mali-T830 GPU. Samsung also includes masses of pre-installed apps, which aren't entirely welcome since the Samsung Galaxy A3’s storage is limited. There's the Microsoft Apps suite, including Word and OneNote. S Health is probably the most interesting of Samsung’s own apps. This is now a full fitness and 'wellness’ platform, allowing the user to simply track steps, but also log user’s food and GPS-track hikes, cycles and walks as well. There's only a small increase in battery capacity from 2,300 to 2,350 mAh. The 2,350 mAh battery is well suited to the Samsung Galaxy A3’s small screen, and when used in a way that exploits this, the Galaxy A3 lasts for some time. The 2017 Galaxy A3 is a low-end smartphone with all the necessary features of a high-end device. Hence, the slightly higher price tag is justified.
