Die außergewöhnlichsten Features sind die 35mm-Hauptkamera sowie eine klassenführende Ultraweitwinkelkamera mit 1/1.28 Zoll-Sensor. Natürlich erhaltet ihr ein hervorragendes 6,82 Zoll LTPO-Display mit hoher Spitzenhelligkeit, die Top-Performance des Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, eine sehr gute Akkulaufzeit und schnelles Laden mit voller Power Delivery-Kompatibilität. Auf der Negativseite gibt es ein paar kleine Punkte. Das Smartphone wiegt 237 Gramm und ist ein echter Brocken. Die China-Version verzichtet auf das 6GHz-Band bei WiFi 7 sowie auf eSIM, zudem fehlt UWB und Bluetoot 6.0. Das sind zwar keine Deal-Breaker, aber bei einem Gerät dieser Preisklasse Kritikpunkte. Zu den Deutschland-Preisen solltet ihr dieses Gerät schlicht nicht kaufen. Die spannende Wahl liegt bei den China-Importen. Hier konkurrieren das Vivo X300 Ultra und das Xiaomi 17 Ultra auf einem ähnlichen Kamera-Niveau. Das Vivo X300 Ultra ist die richtige Wahl für Personenfotografen, da die 35mm-Brennweite auf dem Markt einzigartig ist und auf natürliche Weise Portraits ohne verzerrte Gesichtsproportionen liefert. Auch Ultraweitwinkel-Fans kommen auf ihre Kosten. Dazu kommt der Vorteil der komplett deutschen Sprache in der China-Version. Dafür kostet das Vivo im Import allerdings mehr als das Xiaomi 17 Ultra, das bei der Kameraqualität definitiv mithalten kann. Hobbyregisseure freuen sich über tolle 4K-Videos, Social-Media-Stars über eine beeindruckende 50-Megapixel-Selfiekamera. Aber auch als Smartphone kann das Vivo X300 Ultra überzeugen. Auf der Vorderseite präsentiert ein strahlend helles, sehr scharfes, sehr lebendiges und 6,84 Zoll großes OLED-Display sehr schöne Bilder bei geschmeidigen Bewegungen. Jeder einzelne Aspekt ist von höchster Güte. Sowohl bei Fotos als auch bei Videos zählt das X300 Ultra zu den allerbesten Smartphones am Markt. Der 2. Teil - das Vivo X300 Ultra mit Tele-Extender: Das große Teleobjektiv verlangt eine klobige Handy-Hülle, wodurch das Gerät recht unhandlich wird und sich nicht für den Alltagseinsatz eignet. Allerdings sind mit dem speziellen Teleobjektiv großartige Fotos aus einzigartigen Perspektiven möglich. Empfehlenswert ist dieses Setup aber wirklich nur dann, wenn man tatsächlich spezielle Anwendungsszenarien plant. Der 3. Teil - das Vivo X300 Ultra mit Smallrig-Kamerakäfig: Wer spezielle Videoaufnahmen plant, kann vom Smallrig-Zubehör profitieren. Will man einfach nur mal schnell ein paar Videos aufnehmen, kann man auf den Kamerakäfig getrost verzichten. Auch ohne Smallrig gelingen mit dem Vivo-Flaggschiff ruckelfreie und hochwertige Videos.

If we come down to the phone itself, its S$2,499 price tag (1TB storage, 16GB RAM) still feels prohibitive, but that’s likely due to global memory shortages. Vivo should have considered adding the 512GB variant to make its starting price less of a shock, or considered a more aggressive pre-order campaign to force more users to switch to its amazing ZEISS-powered photography. Asking S$2,499 for its first overseas Ultra is also a huge leap of faith, unlike competing Android phone brands like OPPO, Xiaomi, and even Samsung. Despite some of them having higher-priced 1TB handsets, these rivals have consistently brought in their Ultra phones, or at the very least made their other high-end products regularly available in the Singapore market. For example, OPPO has just brought in its first overseas Ultra after years of bringing in Pro models of its Find X series. Vivo, if you recall, took a long break before resuming with the Vivo X300 Pro (which we reviewed as well). The X300 Ultra’s strongest competitors are arguably the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and OPPO Find X9 Ultra. Like the Vivo, these phones pride themselves on their photographic capabilities.

If you care about cameras above all else, and your ideal smartphone is a pocket-sized DSLR, then this is the device for you. The cameras are easily among the best I have ever tested, and that’s especially true for video capture, where Vivo gives you an unrivalled suite of options. Plus, the rest of the phone is great, too. It’s a powerful performer that’s great for gaming, the screen and speakers are solid, the battery life is good, and the charging is speedy. Of course, it’s not the only camera-focused hyper flagship on the market, and the closest competitor is the Oppo Find X9 Ultra. It has an extra camera, a bigger battery, and better global availability. I often preferred images from the Oppo (in Master Mode), but Vivo has a clear advantage with its video shooting options, and that lovely 35mm main camera. There are arguments to be made for either device depending on your preferences and needs. The downsides to the X300 Ultra are pretty plain to see. There’s the gigantic camera bump as part of a plain design, which I find quite charming, but it’ll definitely be off-putting to some. And there are also availability issues, which are a bigger hurdle, especially in the UK. If you’re looking for the best camera phone on the market, though, the Vivo X300 Ultra cannot be ignored; it’s truly exceptional.

The Vivo X300 Ultra is an expensive beast. €2,000 is a lot for a chocobar phone — it's not even a foldable. And while I very much appreciate the camera improvements and the total package, we are strictly in the territory of diminishing returns here. I have to question whether the price is justified when the Vivo X300 Pro is a lot of the same phone for a whopping €700 less. Couple that with the fact that if you are in the US and looking to buy one, you will have to take a leap of faith with 3rd-party resellers and cross your fingers. All of that said, I find the phone to be superb, especially for its intended purpose — a camera phone that gives you the ability to take amazing photos and record awesome videos. It doesn't disappoint. It's priced for the Vivo believers and fans for sure, but I have to question why, at that price, I am still treated to a faceful of pre-installed apps, ads, and bloat. At least it does come with the promise of 5 Android updates and 7 years of security patches. So, should you buy it? Logical brain says "No!", emotional brain says "You are going to have so much fun with it!". Your wallet can make the final call.

OriginOS 6 has personality and is mostly smooth, though fingerprint sensor reliability, lockscreen notifications, and a few other elements need attention. The software update policy of five years of OS upgrades and seven years of security patches is decent, but Samsung and Google remain ahead on this front.

The X300 Ultra looks like a solid entry in the 'Ultra' universe of smartphones. It comes with an industry-leading camera spec and an amazing overall build. This is the best Vivo yet in the Indian market, but I will reserve my verdict until the review drops in a few weeks. Stay tuned. The only department that annoyed me in the first week was the built-in apps, which kept sending random notifications throughout the week without any interaction, especially the V-Appstore. The company needs to keep random notifications in check for premium devices like the X300 Pro and X300 Ultra, because consumers aren't buying a high-end device to be notified at 11 at night or 7 in the morning with pop-up messages they never signed up for. Rest, the Vivo X300 Ultra looks like it gets everything right across the board, with barely any room left for me to point out what needs improvement. The display is excellent, performance is top-tier, battery life is fantastic, and the overall hardware package feels worthy of an ultra-premium Android flagship. Whether all of it is worth Rs 1,59,999 for the 16GB RAM + 512GB is something only you can decide. But in my opinion, the Vivo X300 Ultra is a phone that pushes the boundaries of what is possible in a phone, particularly around photography. In doing so, it also offers a smartphone experience that is pinnacle of what you can currently get in the world of Androids.

Toss in the great battery life, brisk charging speeds, impressive real-world performance, and premium extras, and this entire package is hard to ignore. The phone doesn’t come without a cost, though. Quite literally. The X300 Ultra is only available as a 1TB model in some markets, and this variant will set you back a cool €1,999 (~$2,345) in Europe. That’s a ton of cash, even compared to rival Ultra flagships. The addition of a double-stuff camera bump, a heavy design, and disappointing sustained performance don’t help matters, either. Nevertheless, this might be the phone to get if you’re a smartphone camera enthusiast or waiting for a phone with fantastic video capabilities. The phone isn’t available in the US, but importers will be happy to know it supports the N71 network band used by T-Mobile. Looking for an alternative to the X300 Ultra? The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra ($1299.99 at Samsung) might be the best option for most people.

The OPPO Find X9 Ultra serves up better camera hardware on paper, and I already gushed all over it in my review. However, the Vivo X300 Ultra uses the same main sensor and is certainly one of the best phones in 2026 for snapping photos and video.

The highlight of the Vivo X300 Ultra is naturally that camera setup, which now includes two 200MP sensors. That main shooter (an unusually zoomed-in 35mm) uses the 1/1.12-inch Sony Lytia 901, while the fresh 200MP telephoto snapper uses Samsung’s ISOCELL HP0 sensor. Check out my review photo and video samples to see just how good this camera arrangement really is. The Vivo X300 Ultra is an absolute brick, but that chunky chassis does contain a lot of excellent tech. You don't get the biggest battery around, but it sure does charge quickly. And of course this wouldn't be an Ultra smartphone without the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, powering your apps and games.
