Great performance, decent battery life, good keyboard and trackpad, and a massive screen – just that the screen quality itself is kinda subpar. If you’re okay with the screen, then I think this is an okay laptop. However, I’d like to see a price drop.

EN→DEAt RM2,999 – the ASUS Vivobook 16X certainly does not ask a lot of money for good amounts of CPU performance, but some corners are cut so you should not ask too much out of it. I’d say the best use case would fall under office work – those who do mostly typing and data entry that needs a bigger screen will benefit a lot from this machine with a relatively low price point. If you need a better content watching experience though, go for the Vivobook 15X OLED instead.

EN→DEWhen you want a laptop that has the performance of a big gaming machine, you need to make sacrifices. Especially if you want it to be affordable. Well, this is exactly the case with the Vivobook 16X (M1603). Its IPS panel has a WUXGA resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, comfortable viewing angles, and a good contrast ratio. Its backlight doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment, but on the other hand, the color coverage is only 50% of the sRGB color gamut. Although the laptop is made out of plastic, it has one strong feature when it comes to the body – its coating. ASUS has covered all body panels with an antimicrobial layer, which attracts all microbes and then kills them off. Quite sadistic, but also beneficial. In addition to that, the port selection is robbed of an SD card reader, while the USB Type-C port can only be used for data transfers. Also, some of the memory (8GB to be precise) has been soldered to the motherboard. Further expansions are possible via the single SODIMM slot. In terms of battery, you get between 8 and 10 hours on a single charge, depending on your activities – watching videos, or browsing the Web. Using more demanding software, however, will drain it significantly more quickly, due to the power-hungry processor. Speaking of which, it is really powerful. Even though it is a couple of generations old, one can still reap the benefits of AMD’s bold design back in the day. So, if you are looking for a machine that is capable of delivering all you need, at a low price, and still allows you to play light games – get the Vivobook 16X (M1603). Don’t miss to check out the OLED version of this device.

The Vivobook 16 (X1605) is a pretty decent machine with only a few minor flaws that can’t be ignored, but at the same time won’t be dealbreakers for the majority of you. This includes the lack of an SD card reader and the fact that the only USB Type-C port can only be used for data transfer. On the bright side, the situation on the inside looks a bit better with one SODIMM slot for memory expansion and one M.2 PCIe x4 slot for Gen 3 or Gen 4 SSDs. The battery life is great if you’re browsing the Web – 10 hours and 30 minutes, but it is not fantastic if you are watching videos – 5 hours and 30 minutes. Unfortunately, we are not aware what is the reason for the huge difference. Not in last place, its Antibacterial Guard limits the growth and build-up of bacteria on the plastic surface of the notebook. This feature is tested against the ISO 22196 standard, according to ASUS. Now, if you are willing to get a laptop at this price point, you might need to settle for plastic as a building material.

For $300 more, the Acer Swift Edge offers a 16-inch, 16:10 OLED display inside a slim yet rigid magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis. It also regularly goes on sale at Costco for less than $1,000. Or if you don't mind a smaller display, consider the HP Pavilion Plus 14, which comes in many configurations at more affordable prices.

EN→DEWhat all of this adds up to is that the Asus Vivobook 16X is a seriously capable general-purpose laptop, that can handle everything from day-to-day PC drudgery to serious gaming via watching Netflix or listening to Spotify. The robust, stay-clean design and excellent battery life are cherries on an already rather scrumptious cake. To find fault with the 16X, I’m reduced to mentioning the lack of a second SSD slot, and small issues with thermal throttling.

During testing, I was getting between two and six hours of usage on a single charge, depending on how many demanding tasks I was doing. At its absolute limit, when converting a large video file, it lasted just over an hour. An extreme power-saving mode can stretch battery life to a full working day, but it becomes difficult to work when performance is much more limited. Keep the charger handy at all times.

However, that display isn’t especially vibrant or accurate, which robs the laptop of some of its multimedia potential. What’s more, a puny battery, just the one USB-C port, and a rather cheap-feeling finish saps a fair amount of that initial full-sized laptop pizazz. Heavy discounting means that anyone specifically in the market for the largest laptop screen possible at the lowest price possible will definitely want to include the Vivobook 16 in their calculations. For the vast majority of people, however, you can get a better-balanced laptop package elsewhere.

It won’t buckle under the virtual weight of too much admin work. This laptop does start at £600 for the Intel Core i5 version, and it might be a worthy compromise for those looking for straightforward productivity use. With lacklustre speakers and a hinge that stops short of helping it become a good entertainment companion, however, there are just a few too many compromises here to truly recommend it at this price point. The 16GB RAM is this model’s biggest strength in terms of raw power but competing devices are hard to ignore with the HP Pavilion SE 14 providing a more modern processor for less money as well as a better speaker system.

Das Asus VivoBook 16 in der hier geprüften Ausstattungsvariante M1605YA-MB638W hat ein großes Display, die Bauweise ist aber weder klobig noch ausladend. Es lässt sich daher locker im Rucksack transportieren. Zudem ist es für ein 16-Zoll-Modell recht leicht. Manko: Der Bildschirm könnte Farben kräftiger zeigen. Das Tempo ist jedoch hoch, die Laufzeit lang, die Ausstattung fast vollzählig. So ist es am Ende ein Top-Notebook in der Preisklasse bis 700 Euro.

When you add the 1200p display in the mix, this results in more than 16 hours of Web browsing on a single charge. Not bad for a 42Wh battery! Of course, if you get a laptop with a Zen 4 processor and a 3.2K OLED display, perhaps the battery life could be shorter. This machine is offered with a plethora of processor options. This allows you to pick the right chip for your needs. For casual office or home usage, even the 6-core Ryzen 5 5625U should be fine, if you aren’t too pretentious. It’s not a bad idea to choose a machine with dual-channel memory that will boost the overall performance. On the other side, this notebook can be transformed into a productivity beast with an 8-core Zen 4 CPU like the Ryzen 9 7940HS.

EN→DEThe ASUS Vivobook 16X OLED (K3604) has a lot of potential to be a true blockbuster in its class but the device isn’t perfect. Let’s start with the positives – the 16:10 4K (3840 x 2400p) OLED display (Samsung AMOLED ATNA60YV02-0 (SDC415D) is just great. It boasts 100% sRGB and DCI-P3 coverage alongside good out-of-the-box color accuracy. The HDR panel amazes with quick pixel response times and infinite contrast ratio. The display flicker here isn’t an issue since there is a ”Flicker-Free Dimming” function in the MyASUS software. The overall performance of the laptop is good. The machine feels snappy – our laptop is configured with the Core i7-1360P which is the top CPU option for the series. This chip is a serious challenge for the basic-looking cooling solution. Interestingly, the CPU can maintain decently high frequencies in prolonged periods of 100% stress while the clocks in short loads are so-so.

EN→DEWhile our specific Asus Vivobook 16X review unit doesn’t make the best impression for the company’s line of mid-ranged ultrabooks, that shouldn’t necessarily sway you from purchasing one. Newer variants of the Asus Vivobook 16X feature far more competent graphics cards such as the RTX 4050 and RTX 4060 for a similar price as this version, not to mention vastly faster processors such as 13th Gen i5 CPUs or AMD equivalents. The core design is solid and the display is far from the worst that I’ve ever seen. Not to mention, the keyboard is very comfortable and satisfying to use for many hours at a time – so there’s a host of redeeming qualities for sure.

The entry-level ARM machine is ideal for folks who want to run the basic software or get most work done online without exhausting the battery quickly or without spending much on a new laptop. Its toughness ratings make it equally good for students, allowing them to be somewhat careless once in a while. Charging over USB-C is another advantage and lets you forget about carrying a separate charger always. The Vivobook 16 compromises on the productivity front, and is unsuitable for creative professionals, unless they treat it as a backup machine only. For a little extra, Asus itself has exciting options, such as the Asus Vivobook S15 or the Zenbook A14.

EN→DEThe Asus Vivobook 16 (2025) offers decent performance, long battery life, a smooth touchpad, and a big screen. I’m not the biggest fan of the Vivobook 16, but it is a solid Windows 11 laptop. The biggest issue I have with it right now is its price. The Acer Aspire 14 AI is cheaper and it offers a clicky keyboard and slightly longer battery life. However, if you really want a 16-inch budget laptop, the Vivobook 16 is a decent choice.

Let’s say you’re a parent who wants to buy your kid a laptop that can run all the necessary software and have just enough power to let them explore AI, then this is a good choice. If you’re a working professional who needs something with a big screen and a numpad, good choice for you too. However, if you’re someone who wants a laptop that can edit photos & videos, and allow you to play AAA games on it. Or if you’re willing to carry a heavy machine and always have a power socket around, you could sacrifice the Vivobook’s sensibility to go with a gaming laptop.

Unter dem Markennamen ROG (Republic of Gamers) stellt ASUS Gaming-Laptops her, die bei Spielern für ihre leistungsstarken Spezifikationen, dedizierten Grafikkarten, Displays mit hoher Bildwiederholrate und fortschrittlichen Kühlsystemen bekannt sind.

Die Kundenzufriedenheit mit ASUS-Notebooks betrifft Leistung, die Funktionen und das gute Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis der ASUS-Notebooks. Wie bei jeder Marke gibt es jedoch gelegentlich Berichte über Probleme wie Überhitzung, Treiberkompatibilität oder Probleme mit der Verarbeitungsqualität.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 1.7 TFLOPS: Die Qualcomm Snapdragon X Adreno X1-45 ist die schwächste GPU in the Snapdragon X Plus SoCs mit nur 1,7 statt 3,8 TFLOPS an Leistung. Wahrscheinlich wird dies durch weniger Taktraten und / oder weniger Kerne erreicht.
Durch aktuell eingeschränkten Treibersupport und Spieleunterstüztung ist die 3D-Leistung und Kompabilität in Spielen jedoch nicht vergleichbar mit Nvidia und AMD iGPUs.
Diese Grafikkarten sollten alle modernen Spiele flüssig darstellen können. Anspruchsvolle Spiele müssen jedoch in mittlerer Detailstufe gespielt werden. Ältere und weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele wie die Sims Serie können auch in hohen Detailsstufen flüssig dargestellt werden.
