Auch die Haptik und das Handling sorgen für nicht ganz so viel Begeisterung. Erstes ist durchaus mehr als gelungen. Das U12+ fasst sich anfangs toll an und neben dem Design spürt man, wie wertig das Smartphone ist. Allerdings ist die Glasrückseite schneller mit Fingerabdrücken und Schlieren übersät als andere Geräte und sie scheint auch nicht kompatibel mit der Handinnenfläche zu sein, denn nach kürzester Zeit fängt das Smartphone an, aus der Hand zu rutschen. Hier empfiehlt es sich dringend, eine Schutzhülle zu verwenden, um das Rutschen zu vermeiden und die schicke Rückseite länger hübsch aussehen zu lassen.

Bei diesem Smartphone handelt es sich um einen schicken Sechszöller, der auf den ersten Blick keine Wünsche offen lässt. Das 18:9-Display löst mit 2880 x 1440 Pixeln auf, was einer Pixeldichte von 537 ppi entspricht. Ein Manko des Gerätes ist die Display-Helligkeit. Während dies in geschlossenen Räumen kein Thema war, hatten wir bei starker Sonneneinstrahlung Probleme mit der Ablesbarkeit.

Der ultradünne Rahmen auf der Seite ist mittlerweile relativ verbreitet und auch den kontroversen Notch gibt es beim U12+ nicht. Auffällig wird es erst auf der Rückseite: HTC verbaut bei seinem Spitzenmodell einen mehrschichtigen Glasrücken.

I came into 2018 excited for HTC, but the U12+ just killed it all for me. As good as the camera and specs might be, and as much as I like looking at and holding this phone, it’s just not that fun to use. HTC screwed up buttons, which is something I’m not sure I expected to say…ever. Their Edge Sense technology is mostly a mess, battery life on this phone is not good at all, and I’m really worried that HTC has given up on updating their phones regularly. Couple all of that with the fact that its an $800 investment and you should probably pass on this one.
