Dells neues Lifestyle-Notebook XPS 15 kann mit einem nahezu perfekten Gehäuse aufwarten, kämpft aber ein wenig mit dem recht hoch angesiedelten Preis von 1500 Euro. Dell hat für seine Mainstream-Geräte für die 2012er-Saison mit einer neuen Design-Sprache versehen. Die Königsklasse im Consumer-Bereich stellt dabei das XPS-Label dar, das nicht nur mit einem ansprechenden Design, sondern auch mit einer tollen Verarbeitung aufwarten soll.

Dell liefert mit dem XPS 15 ein ausgezeichnetes Multimedia-Notebook ab. Für eine uneingeschränkte Empfehlung muss allerdings die dynamische Taktung der Grafikkarte angepasst werden, damit die Leistung der Nvidia Geforce GT 640M auch abgerufen werden kann. Zu den Pluspunkten zählen das hervorragend verarbeitete Chassis mit hochwertigen Materialien, das helle FullHD-Display, das Blu-ray Laufwerk, die sehr guten Eingabegeräte und der satte Sound.

When I first laid hands (and eyes) on the new XPS 15, I was extremely impressed. It’s such a noticeable upgrade compared to previous XPS laptops in terms of build quality that I really can’t understate the fact. Dell’s in a bit of a Catch-22 here, of course, with a design that’s very similar to the MacBook Pro 15. On the one hand, if they do a 15” laptop that’s similar but not built as well (e.g. the XPS 15z from last year), they get complaints from people saying, “Apple can do it, so why can’t Dell?”

Diese Grafikkarten sollten alle modernen Spiele flüssig darstellen können. Anspruchsvolle Spiele müssen jedoch in mittlerer Detailstufe gespielt werden. Ältere und weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele wie die Sims Serie können auch in hohen Detailsstufen flüssig dargestellt werden.

3612QM: Auf der Ivy Brige Architektur basierender Quad-Core Prozessor mit 2.1-3.1 GHz Taktung, integrierter HD Graphics 4000 Grafikkarte (650-1100MHz) und integriertem Dualchannel DDR3 Speicherkontroller. 16.0": 16 Zoll Display-Varianten gibt es im Großen und Ganzen erst seit 2009, dürften aber immer häufiger werden, vor allem in Kombination mit 16:9 Diagonalen. Die Bildschirmgröße ist etwas größer als die häufige Standardgröße 15 Zoll. Der Grund der Beliebtheit mittelgrosser Displays ist, dass diese Größe einigermaßen augenschonend ist und dennoch nicht allzu viel Strom verbraucht und die Geräte noch halbwegs kompakt sein können.

78.11%: Weltbewegend ist diese Bewertung nicht. Obwohl es bei den meisten Websites einem "Befriedigend" entspricht, muss man bedenken, dass es kaum Notebooks gibt, die unter 60% erhalten. Verbalbewertungen in diesem Bereich klingen oft nicht schlecht, sind aber oft verklausulierte Euphemismen. Dieses Notebook wird von den Testern eigentlich als unterdurchschnittlich angesehen, eine Kaufempfehlung kann man nur mit viel Wohlwollen darin sehen.
