Der Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 ist ein ARM-basierter Mittelklasse-SoC für Tablets und Smartphones. Der im Februar 2015 vorgestellte Chip integriert acht 64-Bit-fähige Cortex-A53-Kerne von ARM, die mit bis zu 1,4 GHz takten. Weiterhin verfügt der Snapdragon 415 über eine Adreno-405-Grafikeinheit, einen LPDDR3-Speichercontroller (max. 667 MHz, 5,3 GB/s) sowie ein Funkmodem für WLAN, Bluetooth sowie UMTS/LTE.

Prozessor

Der Cortex-A53 kann als Nachfolger des beliebten Cortex-A7-Designs betrachtet werden. Neben der von 32 auf 64 Bit verbreiterten Prozessorarchitektur (ARMv8-ISA), die unter anderem die Adressierung von mehr als 4 GB Arbeitsspeicher erlaubt, wurden auch weitere Details wie die Sprungvorhersage optimiert. Insgesamt steigt die Pro-MHz-Leistung dadurch deutlich an und liegt sogar etwas oberhalb eines Cortex-A9-Kernes. Die acht Kerne des Snapdragon 415 takten mit bis zu 1,4 GHz, sodass der SoC nicht ganz an die Performance eines Snapdragon 610 oder MediaTek MT8752 (beide mit 8 Kernen @ 1,7 GHz) herankommt.

Grafiklösung

Die integrierte Grafikeinheit hört auf den Namen Adreno 405 und dürfte mit etwa 500 MHz takten (nicht bestätigt). Die 400er-Serie der Adreno-Baureihe wurde im Feature-Umfang beträchtlich erweitert und unterstützt nun DirectX 11.2 (FL 11_1) inkl. Hardware Tesselation, OpenGL ES 3.1 sowie OpenCL 1.2. Desweiteren hat Qualcomm die Performance gegenüber der älteren Adreno 305 (Snapdragon 400) merklich verbessert, sodass nun etwa das Niveau einer Adreno 320 oder PowerVR G6200 erreicht wird.

Features

Der Snapdragon 415 unterstützt eine Reihe verschiedener Funkstandards. Dazu gehören nicht nur WLAN 802.11ac und Bluetooth 4.1, sondern auch Ortungsdienste wie GPS. Weiterhin beherrscht der Chip 2G- und 3G-Funk ebenso wie den LTE-Standard Cat. 4 (Dual-SIM).

Zu den Multimedia-Fähigkeiten des SoCs zählt die Wiedergabe von 1080p-Videos im H.265-Codec (1080p-Aufzeichnung nur in H.264) sowie der Support für Kameras mit bis zu 13 Megapixeln.

Leistungsaufnahme

Der Snapdragon 415 wird in einem 28-Nanometer-Prozess (TSMC LP) gefertigt. Entsprechend der Leistungsdaten sollte sich der Verbrauch auf einem mittleren Niveau bewegen, sodass der Chip auch in kleineren Smartphones oder Tablets verbaut werden kann.

Der Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 (MSM8936) ist ein ARM-basierter Mittelklasse-SoC für Tablets und Smartphones. Der im Februar 2014 vorgestellte Chip ist einer der ersten 64-Bit-SoCs von Qualcomm und integriert vier der neuen Cortex-A53-Kerne von ARM, die mit bis zu 1,7 GHz takten. Weiterhin verfügt der Snapdragon 610 über eine Adreno-405-Grafikeinheit, einen Dual-Channel (2x 32 Bit) LPDDR2/3-Speichercontroller sowie ein Funkmodem für WLAN, Bluetooth sowie UMTS/LTE.

Prozessor

Der Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (SD430) ist ein unterer Mittelklasse SoC für (Android basierende) Smartphones und Tablets. Er wird im Gegensatz zum Snapdragon 630 noch in 28 nm gefertigt und bietet ebenfalls einen ARM Cortex-A53 Octa-Core Prozessorteil. Dieser ist jedoch nur mit bis zu 1,4 GHz (laut Wikipedia sogar nur 1,2 GHz) getaktet. Das Integrierte X6 LTE Modem unterstützt Cat. 4 und dadurch maximal 150 Mbps Download und 75 Mbps Upload. Weiters ist eine Adreno 505 Grafikkarte integriert mit Support für Vulkan und OpenGL ES 3.1. WLAN wir 802.11ac unterstützt und Bluetooth in der Version 4.1. Der Speicherkontroller unterstützt LPDDR3 mit 800 MHz (daher wahrscheinlich Dual-Channel DDRL-1600).
