MSI Modern 15 A10M-028
Das MSI Modern 15 A10M-028 ist die 15,6-Zoll-Version des 14-Zoll-Vorgängers. Das Modern 15 hat ein elegantes und leichtgewichtiges Aluminium-Gehäuse mit einem Bildschirm-zu-Gehäuse-Verhältnis von bis zu 90 Prozent. Darüber hinaus wurde in dieses Modell das Chi Mei N156HCE-EN1 IPS-Panel eingebaut, das ähnlich wie das Panel der 2017 Asus ZenBook Pro UX550 Reihe, des Lenovo IdeaPad 720S-15IKB und des Lenovo Yoga 720-15IKB ist. Somit übernimmt das Modern 15 einige Kernmerkmale dieser Systeme in Sachen Farbwiedergabe, Reaktionszeit und Kontrastverhältnis. Der FHD-Bildschirm des Modern 15 verspricht ein besseres Bilderlebnis. Er ist zudem entspiegelt, was ebenfalls das Benutzererlebnis verbessert. Im Vergleich zum teuereren 4K UHD Prestige 15 bietet dieses FHD Modern 15 schnellere Reaktionszeiten für weniger Ghosting, jedoch mit einer schwächeren Hintergrundbeleuchtung und einem begrenzteren Farbspektrum.
Was die Nutzung im Freien angeht, so kann man das Display im Schatten gut sehen, da es einen matten Überzug und ein 180-Grad-Scharnier für breite Blickwinkel hat. Allerdings sollte man einen Laptop mit besserer Helligkeit wählen, wenn man oft im Freien arbeitet, z.B. das XPS 15, das MacBook Pro oder das Prestige 15. Zudem hat das Modern 15 keinen Touchscreen, was für manche ein Nachteil sein könnte. Die Tastatur sorgt mit einem ergonomischen Design für ein optimiertes Tipperlebnis. Dank der Hinterleuchtung kann man sogar in dunklen Umgebungen gut tippen. Zusätzlich werden die Tippgenauigkeit und der Komfort mit einem Hub von 1,5 mm verbessert.
Für gute Leistung sorgen eine vierkern Core i7-10510U Comet Lake-U CPU und eine Nvidia GeForce MX250 GPU. Der Prozessor verspricht definitiv kompromisslose Leistung, sogar wenn mehrere Auslastungen gleichzeitig gestapelt sind. Darüber hinaus wurde das MSI Modern 15 mit Cooler-Boost-3-Technologie ausgerüstet, die mit zwei Lüftern und drei Wärmerohren die Temperatur des Laptops sogar bei starker Belastung in Schach hält. In Sachen Anschlüsse hat das Modern 15 einen USB-Typ-C-Anschluss im Vergleich zu den zwei Typ-C-Anschlüssen des Modern 14. Allerdings kommen beim Modern 15 noch ein USB-Typ-A-Anschluss und ein Mikro-SD-Kartenleser hinzu. Der 52-Wh-Akku des Notebooks kann mit einer vollen Ladung eine Laufzeit von bis zu neun Stunden erreichen, was definitiv die allgemeine Produktivität und Bequemlichkeit steigert. Obwohl alle Laptops Vor- und Nachteile haben, hängt die Wahl gänzlich von den Vorlieben und Anforderungen des Käufers ab.

For the price, the MSI Modern 15 offers a stunning design, good connectivity, great performance and a finely-tuned screen. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the laptop’s hinge, and the battery life while good, could’ve been better. Regardless, the MSI Modern 15 hits more than it misses and therefore, gets a vote of recommendation from me.

EN→DEMSI Modern 15 A11 a budget laptop that will probably help MSI in their attempt to get a foothold in the market for office computers. In terms of appearance, it lives up to its name, and the sleek aluminium laptop can easily pass for being more luxurious than is actually the case. The processing power is also perfectly fine for everyday use, whether it is in the office, at home or at the studio. It comes into competition with machines like the slightly more expensive Acer Swift 3X, which is equal in terms of performance but does not have the solid metal case. The graphics card is downright dull. But unlike MSI’s other computers, it’s not made for gaming and heavy graphics either.

EN→DEThe MSI Modern 15 is a budget laptop with enough power and storage for taxing productivity jobs. A Dell XPS 13 with similar internals costs twice as much. And unlike a lot of basic, pragmatic laptops, the MSI Modern 15 has a low-key sense of style; it doesn’t immediately look or feel too cheap. There are a couple of issues that a lower price can’t eclipse, however. This laptop’s colour saturation is poor, and while the screen looks remarkably good considering how weak the colour is, photo editors and video creators should consider whether this is too big a hurdle to get over. The MSI Modern 15’s battery isn’t fit for all-day use, either – although MSI does have a higher-capacity model in some countries for which lasting the day shouldn’t be a problem. Other cheap Windows laptop options include the Surface Laptop Go 2 and Acer Swift 3, but the MSI is nevertheless an excellent option if you fancy a 15.6-inch display.

Only time will tell if it can survive deployment in a business environment for more than the limited warranty period, but that’s also true for some of the most expensive laptops. At this price, this might be an excellent choice for a student if they can be convinced to take care of it. The highlight of this design is the Core i7-1255U, a major improvement over some of the remarkably mediocre mobile chips that Intel has produced in recent years. Having the Iris graphics core is also very helpful for those that want to do anything graphical or output video playback in 4K to a TV, but not anything useful for CAD or game development. A single year of warranty isn’t great, and neither is the stickers that attempt to restrict internal upgrades, even if these are mostly reduced to replacing the NVMe drive and the battery. With such a short warranty, we’d encourage any owner to find a branded Gen 3 NVMe drive of at least 1TB capacity and sling the Kingston OEM drive that MSI imposed on it as soon as it expires. Overall, a great machine that could give many years of good service to a careful owner.

EN→DEI like the look and feel of the MSI Modern 15 B13M. The metal-and-plastic enclosure is sturdy, and the navy blue color looks sharp. The display and speakers, however, are disappointing and make the laptop less appealing for home use unless it's spending most of its time on a desk connected to an external monitor and speakers. If you are reading this review and see the Modern 15 B13M on sale for hundreds less than its $950 list price, then it's worth considering, assuming you can live with its shortcomings. Otherwise, I urge you to pass on it in favor of the similarly outfitted HP Pavilion 15t-eg300 that can usually be found at a steep discount. Or the Acer Aspire 5. Or spend a bit more for the $1,200 Acer Swift Go 16, which is lighter and faster and offers a larger and far superior OLED display.

EN→DEAlthough the $999 Modern 15’s Intel Core i9-13900H processor is impressive on its own, the rest of the laptop holds it back. Its power adapter draws less power than the processor can handle, and the DDR4 modules limit the processor’s memory transfer speeds well below what they could be. If you’re willing to get your hands dirty (and spend a bit extra for the sticks), you can squeeze out a bit more performance with a DIY memory upgrade. But overall, the Modern 15 is still a middling laptop with no standout features. There are a few laptops under $1,000 with more power draw for better performance or with a better display.The Acer Nitro 5, Acer Swift X 14, and Asus Zenbook 14X OLED laptops push out just as much performance, include faster DDR5 memory, and have better displays and battery life.

That's about all the MSI Modern 15 offers—its screen is a serious letdown, its integrated graphics can't keep up with its CPU performance, and that chip scored below most other Core i9 models in our benchmark tests. Whether you want all-around performance or just conveniences like a fingerprint reader and 1080p webcam, you would be smart to spend a few hundred more.

MSI: Micro-Star International (MSI) wurde 1986 in Taiwan gegründet. MSI ist besonders als Hersteller von Hauptplatinen und Grafikkarten für PCs bekannt, bietet darüber hinaus Computerzubehör, Komplettsysteme, Motherboards, Grafikkarten, Laptops, Desktop-PCs, Monitore und andere Komponenten an. Der Markenname Microstar gehört in Deutschland allerdings der Firma Medion. MSI ist bekannt für seine Gaming-Produkte und hat eine breite Palette von Gaming-Laptops und Desktop-PCs entwickelt. Das Unternehmen ist auch in den Bereichen Workstations, Server und industrielle Automatisierung tätig. MSI hat Niederlassungen in Nordamerika, Europa, Asien und Australien.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
NVIDIA GeForce MX250: Umbenannte MX150 und damit weitherhin Pascal GP108 basierende Notebook-Grafikkarte und mobile Version der GT 1030. Bietet 384 Shader und meist 2 GB GDDR5 Grafikspeicher. Die Taktraten sind ev. etwas oberhalb der MX150 angesiedelt. Weiterhin als normale (25 Watt) und langsamere Stromsparvariante (10 Watt) erhältlich.
Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrierte Grafikkarte (GT2-Ausbau, 24 EUs), welche in einigen Kaby-Lake-CPUs (Refresh, ULV-Modelle, 15 Watt TDP) verbaut wird. Technisch identisch zur HD Graphics 620 in den Kaby-Lake Modellen aus 2016.
NVIDIA GeForce MX330: Wahrscheinlich auf die alte GeForce MX150 / MX250 basierende Notebook-Grafikkarte (mobile Version der GT 1030). Eventuell beim Speicherbus und den Taktraten beschnitten. Wie bei der MX250 können auch wieder zwei Varianten zum Einsatz kommen (normale mit 25 Watt und langsamere Stromsparvariante mit 10 Watt).
NVIDIA GeForce MX450: Abgespeckte GeForce GTX 1650 basierend auf den selben TU117 Chip und GDDR6 Grafikspeicher.

R7 5700U: Mobile APU mit acht Zen 2 basierten Kernen welche mit 1,8 bis 4,3 GHz takten. Integriert eine Vega Grafikkarte mit 8 CUs und maximal 1900 MHz. Im Vergleich zum Topmodell, dem R7 5800U, basiert der Prozessor noch auf die Alte Zen 2 und nicht Zen 3 und bietet nur den halben L3-Cache und um 100 MHz geringere Taktraten.
