Das Samsung Galaxy M31s ist ein Mid-Range-Smartphone, das vergangenen Sommer von Samsung vorgestellt wurde. Eines der Highlights ist die 64-MP-Kamera mit Single-Take-Funktion. Mit einem neuen Design sticht das Smartphone aus der Galaxy-M-Reihe etwas hervor. Der 6,5-Zoll-Infinity-O-Bildschirm hat in der Mitte des oberen Randes eine Kamera-Aussparung, wodurch es hochwertig wirkt. Der Bildschirm ist scharf, hell genug, um im Freien benutzt zu werden, auch die Blickwinkel enttäuschen nicht. Der Fingerabdruck-Leser befindet sich auf der rechten Seite neben der Lautstärkewippe. Auf der Unterseite sind ein USB-Typ-C-Anschluss, eine 3,5-mm-Audiobuchse und Lautsprecher, während die Oberkante ein zusätzliches Mikrofon beherbergt. Im Inneren des Galaxy M31s steckt ein Exynos-9611-Prozessor mit 6 GB Arbeitsspeicher und 128 GB Speicherplatz. Die acht Kerne des Prozessors setzen sich aus vier Cortex-A73-Kernen mit einer Schnelligkeit von 2,3 GHz und vier Cortex-A53-Kernen mit einer Schnelligkeit von 1,7 GHz zusammen. Beim Arbeitsspeicher kann man zwischen 6 und 8 GB wählen, während der Speicherplatz bei 128 GB festgesetzt ist; mit einer Mikro-SD-Karte kann er aber um bis zu 512 GB erweitert werden.
Für Konnektivität stellt das Galaxy M31s Bluetooth 5, Dual-Band-Wi-Fi-AC, GPS, 4G und VoLTE zur Verfügung. Das alles wird von einem 6.000-mAh-Akku betrieben, der 25-W-Schnellladen unterstützt. In der Schachtel bekommt man sogar ein USB-C-Ladegerät mit 25 W, was für die Galaxy-M-Reihe eine Prämiere ist. In 30 Minuten erhält der Akku 34%, in einer Stunde 65%. Um den Akku ganz zu laden, benötigt man eine Stunde und halb. Außerdem wird ein Kabel mit USB-C an beiden Enden mitgeliefert, damit man andere Galaxy-Geräte über das Smartphone laden kann. Auf dem Samsung Galaxy M31s läuft Android 10 mit OneUI 2.1 obendrauf. Als Alternative zum Google Play Store wurde die Galaxy-Store-App installiert. Eine weitere nützliche Software-Funktion ist beispielsweise Dual-Apps, mit der man zwei Klone der gleichen App benutzen kann. Mit einer Game-Toolbar lassen sich beim Aufnehmen von Spielen Benachrichtigungen, Full-Screen-Gesten und Features blockieren. Das Galaxy M31s hat auf der Rückseite vier Kameras, ähnlich wie das Galaxy M31. Die 64-MP-Hauptkamera hat eine Blende von f/1.8. Die zweite ist eine 12-MP-Ultra-Weitwinkelkamera mit einem Blickwinkel von 123 Grad. Dazu kommen noch eine 5-MP-Makrokamera und ein 5-MP-Sensor für Schärfentiefe. Daneben befindet sich ein LED-Blitzlicht. Alles in allem ist das Samsung Galaxy M31s ein Mid-Range-Smartphone mit soliden Akku-Laufzeiten. Obwohl es mit einem etwas älteren Prozessor ausgerüstet ist, kommt es mit alltäglichen Aufgaben gut klar. Sowohl die 6-GB- und 8-GB-Variante schafft Multitasking. Das Smartphone eignet sich für Benutzer, die keine anspruchsvollen Apps verwenden und nach einem günstigen Gerät suchen.
