Der Intel Core i5-10400F ist ein schneller Sechs-Kern-Prozessor auf Basis der neuen Comet-Lake-Architektur, die Ende April 2020 angekündigt wurde. Der Prozessor taktet mit einem Basistakt von 2,9 GHz und erreicht unter Last einen All-Core-Boost von 4,0 GHz. Bei Single-Thread-Anwendungen erricht der Intel Core i5-10400F sogar bis zu 4,3 GHz. Auch dieses Modell kann dank Hyperthreading bis zu 12 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Gefertigt wird der Inter Core i5-10400F wie bekannt, im 14-nm-Prozess. Da es sich hierbei um eine non-K-CPU handelt ist der Multiplikators geblockt, sodass hier nicht viel Spielraum beim Übertakten zu erwarten ist.

Performance

Im Vergleich zum Intel Core i5-9400F bietet der Core i5-10400F nun endlich Hyper-Threading, was sonst nur den Topmodellen vorbehalten war. Damit steigt die Zahl der logischen Prozessoren auf 12, was im Test mit einem ordentlichen Leistungsplus bei den Multi-Thread-Aufgaben belohnt wird. Die verbesserte IPC sorgt unterm Strich ebenfalls für eine bessere Single-Core-Performance. Beim Core i5 wird auf den TVB (Thermal Velocity Boost) verzichtet. Bei Belastung aller Kerne sind aber immerhin noch 4,0 GHz möglich. Aufgrund der sehr hohen Single-Thread-Leistung ist der Intel Core i5-10400F für Videospiele bestens geeignet.

Grafikeinheit

Die in der Nomenklatur mit "F" gekennzeichneten Prozessoren bieten keine integrierte Grafikeinheit. Alle anderen non-F-Prozessoren können auf die Intel UHD Graphics 630 zurückgreifen und ermöglichen auch einen Betrieb ohne eine dedizierte Grafikkarte.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die TDP fällt mit 65 Watt relativ gering aus. Dies ist der PL1-Wert. Für den Turbo bietet der Intel Core i5-10400F mit dem PL2 eine höhere TDP von bis zu 134 Watt. Diese dürfen aber nur maximal 28 Sekunden anliegen (Tau). Ein guter Luftkühler sollte mit der entstehenden Abwärme zurechtkommen, sodass bei diesem Prozessor keine AiO notwendig ist.

Intel Core i9-10850K

Der Intel Core i9-10850K ist eine High-End-CPU mit zehn Kernen auf Basis der neuen Comet-Lake-Architektur, die Ende April 2020 bereits angekündigt wurde. Der Prozessor taktet mit 3,6-5,2 GHz und kann dank Hyperthreading bis zu 20 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Gefertigt wird der Intel Core i9-10850K weiterhin im 14-nm-Prozess. Dank des freien Multiplikators lässt sich der Prozessor vergleichsweise einfach übertakten. Voraussetzung hierfür ist jedoch ein Mainboard mit Z490 Chipsatz.

Performance

Im Vergleich zum Intel Core i9-10900K ist der Intel Core i9-10850K nur minimal langsamer als ein Intel Core i9-10900K. Gleichwohl bietet der i9-10850K ebenfalls 10 Kerne und 20 Threads, was den Prozessor für intensive Workloads sehr attraktiv macht. Die schlechte Verfügbarkeit des Core i9-10900K war wohl einer der Hauptgründe, den Core i9-10850K ins Leben zu rufen. Neben der guten Systemleistung fühlt sich der Core i9-10850K auch beim Spielen pudelwohl.

Grafikeinheit

Wie schon das Top-Modell bietet auch der Intel Core i9-10850K mit der Intel UHD Graphics 630 eine iGPU. Aufgrund der geringen Leistung eignet sich diese allerdings nur für den 2D-Betrieb. Als Low-End-Lösung können aktuelle Videospiele, wenn überhaupt, lediglich in verminderter Detailstufe flüssig wiedergegeben werden. 

Leistungsaufnahme

Bei der Leistungsaufnahme sind sich die beiden Core i9-Modelle sehr ähnlich, was auch kein Wunder ist, denn rein technisch sind diese beiden Prozessoren identisch aufgebaut. Somit hat auch der Intel Core i9-10850K eine TDP von 125 Watt (PL1). Doch richtig energiehungrig wird der Prozessor erst, wenn der Boost zum Tragen kommt. Hier können es dann auch schon mal bis zu 250 Watt sein, wenn die Rahmenbedingungen stimmen.
