Mit dem 2015er Update hat Apple bei den Airs letztlich nur umgesetzt, was Intel bereitgestellt hat, wobei die Grafiktreiber noch verbesserungswürdig erscheinen. Die Preiserhöhung geht geht wohl auf das Konto des gefallenen Euro-Kurses.

It can still hold its own, though: the extra battery life compared to the MacBook Pro is a genuinely tempting prospect, as is the 200g difference in weight. We just wish the screen was better: 1,440x900 pixels in 2015 simply isn't enough.

After some extensive testing, we found the MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015) to be little different overall to the 2014 model. The Thunderbolt 2 update will prove useful for connecting to high-resolution UHD displays, and a few percent of added processor power is never unwelcome. But hoped-for improvements in graphics performance and battery longevity did not arise in our testing, in spite of a new Intel processor which was expected to shepherd benefits in both areas.

In 2013, when Apple reduced the price of the MacBook Pro with Retina display range, we stopped recommending the 13-inch MacBook Air on the basis that there was only £150 difference in price. As Apple has continued to drop prices we are still looking at just a £150 difference between the two ranges at the entry level. It's great to see Apple reducing prices across its MacBook ranges, but the lower prices of the MacBook Pro Retina range do have the effect of making the MacBook Air look less attractive in comparison

To be fair, the battery life of the MacBook Air is still hard to beat, and a more mass-market price tag would probably see the darn thing flying off the shelves again. But the bottom line is that it’s now an entry-level laptop with a mid-range price tag. Apple justifies its premium prices by delivering premium design, and on that score the MacBook Air, sadly, just doesn’t cut it anymore, but at least it has a choice of USB and Thunderbolt interfacing as standard.

Modell: Das leichte und portable Apple MacBook Air 13 inch 2015-03 ist für viele ein Maßstab für portable Fähigkeiten. Mit glatter, matter Oberfläche, abgerundeten Kanten und einer hochwertigen Verarbeitung ist das  Apple MacBook Air 13 inch 2015-03 nicht nur schön gestaltet, sondern es ist auch eine Freude es zu verwenden. Apple verbaut einen 13,3 Zoll großen, LED-beleuchteten Breitbild-Bildschirm mit glänzender Oberfläche. Der 1,35 kg Laptop verfügt über einen Intel Core i5 Dual-Core-Prozessor mit einer Taktrate von 1,6 GHz, bis zu 8 GB RAM, eine Intel HD Graphics 6000 GPU und bis zu 512 GB Flashspeicher. Das Ausführen von mobilen Alltagsaufgaben ist kein Problem und das Apple MacBook Air 13 inch 2015-03 sieht zudem elegant aus.

Zu den weiteren Features des Laptops zählen zwei USB-3.0-Ports, ein Thunderbolt-2-Port, Bluetooth-4.0, eine FaceTime HD-Kamera und ein SDXC-Kartenslot. Tippen am Apple MacBook Air 13 inch 2015-03 ist komfortabel und es verfügt über eine Tastatur mit Hintergrundbeleuchtung in voller Größe. Das Gerät läuft unter OSX Yosemite für sehr flüssige und problemlose Bedienung. Portabilität ist nur mit guter Akkulaufzeit nützlich und das Apple MacBook Air 13 inch 2015-03 kann eine solche mit dem integrierten Lithium-Polymer-Akku mit 63 Wh, der bis zu 7 Stunden kabelloser Internetnutzung ermöglicht, liefern.

Das ursprüngliche MacBook Air, "das dünnste Notebook der Welt" wurde bei der 2008 Keynote vom ehemaligen CEO Steve Jobs vorgestellt. Wesentliche Vorteile des MacBook Airs sind die dünnen Abmessungen, die robuste Bauweise, hervorragende Verarbeitung, sehr guter Bildschirm und vor allem die sehr gute Eingabegeräte, wenn auch nur im Vergleich zu anderen gerade aktuellen Netbooks. Es wurde unter anderem der Mangel an DVD-Laufwerken, zu wenig Schnittstellen und die nicht vom Benutzer austauschbare Batterie kritisiert. Jedoch zu diesem Zeitpunkt wusste niemand, dass die Nachteile des MacBook Air den neuen Trend für das Ultrabooks-konzept von 2012 setzen.

Im Jahr 2011 hat Apple die neueste Version des MacBook Airs mit Processor aus der aktuellen Intel Sandy Bridge Serie veröffentlichen. Dank dieses neuen Core-i Processors verfügt das neuen MacBook Air eine Verdopplung der Rechenleistung. In unserem Test sind die Hauptvorteile des neuen MacBook Airs unter anderem geringeres Gewicht und Abmessungen, ein hervorragendes Aluminiumgehäuse, sehr gute Hintergrundbeleuchtungstastatur und ein Glas-Trackpad sowie vor allem sehr gute Anwendungsperformance für ein Subnotebook. Auf der anderen Seite gibt es noch einige Nachteile des ursprünglichen Model wie wenige Schnittstellen, spiegelndem Display und festverlötetem Arbeitsspeicher. Dennoch ist das neuen MacBook Air besser als die meisten Ultrabooks der Konkurren auf dem Markt. Nur die neueste Samsung Series 9 Ultrabook hat eine Chance. Der Durchschnitt der Bewertung für das MacBook Air ist immer sehr gut sodass es sich einen Platz in den Top 3 Subnotebooks von Notebookcheck verdient.

Es geht das Gerücht, dass Apple das 2012 MacBook Air innerhalb eines Monats in Apple WWDC vorstellen. Schwerpunkt für die neue Version sind Retina-Display, USB 3.0 und Ivy-Bridge-Prozessor. Die Benutzer soll sich auf das näcshte Notebook von des kalifornischen Unternehmens freuen.

Intel HD Graphics 6000: Integrierte Grafikkarte (GT3), welche in einigen Broadwell-ULV-CPUs (15 Watt TDP) verbaut wird.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.
