Der Intel Core i7-7700K ist ein High-End Quad-Core Desktop-Prozessor auf Basis der Kaby-Lake-Architektur, der im August 2015 vorgestellt wurde. Die in einem verbesserten 14-Nanometer-Prozess gefertigte CPU taktet mit 4,2 bis 4,5 GHz und kann dank Hyper-Threading bis zu 8 Threads parallel bearbeiten. Als sogenanntes "K"-Modell verfügt der Core i7-7700K über einen freien Multiplikator und lässt sich so besonders einfach übertakten.

Performance

Dank 200 (Basis) bzw 300 MHz (Boost) höherer Taktfrequenz, kann sich der i7-7700K einige Prozent vor dem alten Core i7-6700K (4 - 4,2 GHz) und auch dem i7-4790K positionieren. Die Leistung pro Takt ist jedoch identisch zum Skylake Modell. Auch anspruchsvollste Programme und Spiele werden von der High-End-CPU problemlos bewältigt.

Grafikeinheit

Für Grafikberechnungen zeigt sich die im Prozessor integrierte Intel HD Graphics 630 mit 24 EUs (Execution Units) verantwortlich, die mit 350 - 1150 MHz taktet. Die Leistung ist vergleichbar mit der alten Intel HD Graphics 530 und siedelt sich daher im absoluten Low-End-Bereich an, sodass aktuelle Spiele allenfalls in niedrigen Einstellungen flüssig dargestellt werden.

Leistungsaufnahme

Der TDP ist weiterhin bei 91 Watt festgelegt, Intel spricht jedoch von einer leicht verbesserten Effizienz bei Kaby Lake.

 

 

Intel Core i5-7300U

Der Intel Core i5-7300U ist ein schneller Dual-Core-SoC für Note- und Ultrabooks, der auf der Kaby-Lake-Architektur basiert und Anfang Jänner 2017 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU integriert 2 Prozessorkerne, die mit 2,6 bis 3,5 GHz takten (2-Kern-Turbo ebenfalls 3,5 GHz). Dank Hyper-Threading kann der Prozessor vier Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Weiterhin integriert der i5-7300U eine Intel HD Graphics 620 Grafikkarte, einen Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller (DDR4) sowie VP9- und H.265-Videode- und -encoder. Die Fertigung erfolgt weiterhin in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren.

Im Vergleich zum alten Topmodell dem Core i7-7500U, bietet der i5-7300U einen geringeren Basistakt und nur 3MB Level 3 Cache. Die HD 620 GPU wird jedoch sogar um 50 MHz höher getaktet (max.).

Architektur

Im Vergleich mit Skylake hat Intel die zugrundeliegende Mikroarchitektur praktisch unverändert übernommen, sodass sich keine Unterschiede in der Pro-MHz-Leistung ergeben. Überarbeitet wurde lediglich die Speed-Shift-Technik zur schnelleren dynamischen Anpassung von Spannungen und Taktraten, zudem gestattet der gereifte 14-Nanometer-Prozess deutlich höhere Frequenzen und eine bessere Energieeffizienz als bislang.

Performance

Mit 2,5 bis 3,5 GHz taktet der Core i5-7300U deutlich höher als sein Vorgänger der i5-7200U (2,5 - 3,1 GHz) und i5-6200U (2,3 - 2,8 GHz). Durch den schnellen Turbo, kommt die Performance schon dem alten Core i7-7500U (2,7 - 3,5 GHz, jedoch 4 MB L3 Cache) nahe. Dadurch reicht die Performance auch für viele anspruchsvolle Anwendungen sowie Multitasking.

Grafikeinheit

Die integrierte Intel HD Graphics 620 Grafikkarte verfügt wie die alte HD Graphics 520 über 24 Ausführungseinheiten (EUs) und taktet in diesem Fall mit 300 bis 1.100 MHz. Die Performance hängt stark vom verwendeten Arbeitsspeicher ab; mit schnellem DDR4-2133 im Dual-Channel-Betrieb wird der Vorgänger um etwa 20 bis 30 Prozent übertroffen und die HD 620 kann sich mit einer dedizerten Nvidia GeForce 920M messen.

Anders als Skylake kann Kaby Lake nun auch H.265/HEVC im Main10-Profil mit 10 Bit Farbtiefe sowie Googles VP9-Codec in Hardware decodieren. Der i5-7300U sollte im Vergleich zum i5-7200U auch bereits HDCP 2.2 unterstützen.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die Fertigung erfolgt in einem weiter verbesserten 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren, wodurch die Energieeffizienz nochmals spürbar gestiegen ist. Die TDP wird ULV-typisch mit 15 Watt spezifiziert und kann je nach Einsatzzweck zwischen 7,5 (cTDP Down) und 25 Watt variiert werden.

Intel Core i7-7660U

Der Intel Core i7-7660U ist ein schneller Dual-Core-SoC für Note- und Ultrabooks, der auf der Kaby-Lake-Architektur basiert und Anfang Jänner 2017 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU integriert 2 Prozessorkerne, die mit 2,5 bis 4 GHz takten (2-Kern-Turbo nur 3,8 GHz). Dank Hyper-Threading kann der Prozessor vier Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Weiterhin integriert der i7-7660U eine Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 Grafikkarte mit 64 MB eDRAM, einen Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller (DDR4) sowie VP9- und H.265-Videode- und -encoder. Die Fertigung erfolgt weiterhin in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren.

Im Vergleich zum Core i7-7600U, bietet der 7660U einen höheren Single-Core Turbo von 4 GHz (+100 MHz) aber einen geringeren Dual-Core Turbo (-100 MHz). Auch der Basistakt ist geringer (-300 MHz) jedoch kann der CPU Teil auch auf die 64 MB des eDRAM als L5 Cache zurückgreifen.

Architektur

Grafikeinheit

Die integrierte Intel Iris Plus 640 Grafikkarte repräsentiert die "GT3e"-Ausbaustufe der Kaby-Lake-GPU (Intel Gen. 9.5). Die 48 Ausführungseinheiten (EUs) takten mit 300 bis 1.050 MHz und erlauben in Verbindung mit dem schnellen eDRAM-Cache eine Performance auf dem Niveau einer GeForce 920MX. Im Vergleich zur alten Iris Pro 540 gibt es jedoch keine deutlichen Verbesserungen. Aktuelle Spiele können dadurch oft gar nicht flüssig dargestellt werden oder nur in minimalen bzw mittleren Detailstufe.

Anders als Skylake kann Kaby Lake nun auch H.265/HEVC im Main10-Profil mit 10 Bit Farbtiefe sowie Googles VP9-Codec in Hardware decodieren. Die Anfang Jänner eingeführten Dual-Core-Kaby-Lake-Prozessoren sollten außerdem schon HDCP 2.2 beherrschen.
