Der Intel Core i5-7260U ist ein schneller Dual-Core-SoC für Laptops und Ultrabooks, der auf der Kaby-Lake-Architektur basiert und Anfang Jänner 2017 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU integriert 2 Prozessorkerne, die mit 2,2 bis 3,4 GHz takten (2-Kern-Turbo ebenfalls 3,4 GHz). Dank Hyper-Threading kann der Prozessor vier Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Weiterhin integriert der i7-7260U eine Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 Grafikkarte mit 64 MB eDRAM, einen Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller (DDR4) sowie VP9- und H.265-Videode- und -encoder. Die Fertigung erfolgt weiterhin in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren.

Architektur

Im Vergleich mit Skylake hat Intel die zugrundeliegende Mikroarchitektur praktisch unverändert übernommen, sodass sich keine Unterschiede in der Pro-MHz-Leistung ergeben. Überarbeitet wurde lediglich die Speed-Shift-Technik zur schnelleren dynamischen Anpassung von Spannungen und Taktraten, zudem gestattet der gereifte 14-Nanometer-Prozess deutlich höhere Frequenzen und eine bessere Energieeffizienz als bislang.

Performance

Mit 2,2 bis 3,4 GHz taktet der Core i7-7260U deutlich geringer beim Basistakt als der alte Core i5-6267U (2,9  - 3,3 GHz), kann jedoch bei den Turbo Taktraten etwas höher takten. Wie der 6267U, kann auch der i5-7260U auf 64 MB eDRAM der Grafikkarte zurückgreifen, wodurch die Performance in gewissen Szenarien nochmals zulegen sollte.

Grafikeinheit

Die integrierte Intel Iris Plus 640 Grafikkarte repräsentiert die "GT3e"-Ausbaustufe der Kaby-Lake-GPU (Intel Gen. 9.5). Die 48 Ausführungseinheiten (EUs) takten mit 300 bis 950 MHz (i7 Topmodelle bis 1.050) und erlauben in Verbindung mit dem schnellen eDRAM-Cache eine Performance auf dem Niveau einer GeForce 920MX. Im Vergleich zur alten Iris Pro 540 gibt es jedoch keine deutlichen Verbesserungen. Aktuelle Spiele können dadurch oft gar nicht flüssig dargestellt werden oder nur in minimalen bzw mittleren Detailstufe.

Anders als Skylake kann Kaby Lake nun auch H.265/HEVC im Main10-Profil mit 10 Bit Farbtiefe sowie Googles VP9-Codec in Hardware decodieren. Die Anfang Jänner eingeführten Dual-Core-Kaby-Lake-Prozessoren sollten außerdem schon HDCP 2.2 beherrschen.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die Fertigung erfolgt in einem weiter verbesserten 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren, wodurch die Energieeffizienz nochmals spürbar gestiegen ist. Die TDP wird ULV-typisch mit 15 Watt spezifiziert und kann je nach Einsatzzweck zwischen 7,5 (cTDP Down) und 25 Watt variiert werden.

Intel Core i3-7100H

Der Intel Core i3-7100H ist ein Dual-Core Prozessor für Laptops, der auf der Kaby-Lake-Architektur basiert und Anfang Jänner 2017 vorgestellt wurde. Er basiert wahrscheinlich auf den Quad-Core Die der anderen H Prozessoren mit 2 abgeschalteten CPU Kernen, da TDP und integrierte HD Graphics 630 darauf hinweisen. Die beiden Prozessorkerne takten mit 3 GHz ohne Turbo. Dank Hyper-Threading kann der Prozessor vier Threads gleichzeitig bearbeiten. Weiterhin integriert der i3-7100H eine Intel HD Graphics 630 Grafikkarte, einen Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller (DDR4) sowie VP9- und H.265-Videode- und -encoder. Die Fertigung erfolgt weiterhin in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren.

Grafikeinheit

Die integrierte Intel HD Graphics 630 Grafikkarte verfügt wie die alte HD Graphics 530 über 24 Ausführungseinheiten (EUs) und taktet in diesem Fall mit 300 bis 950 MHz. Die Performance hängt stark vom verwendeten Arbeitsspeicher ab. Im Vergleich zu den anderen HD Graphics 630, taktet die GPU im 7100H deutlich niedriger (bis zu 1100 MHz in anderen Modellen), wodurch die Performance geringer sein sollte. Im Vergleich zu HD 620 Modellen, könnte jedoch der höhere TDP eine bessere kontinuierliche Leistung bringen.

Der Intel Core i5-7300HQ ist ein Quad-Core-Prozessor für Notebooks auf Basis der Kaby-Lake-Architektur, der im Jänner 2017 vorgestellt wurde. Er ist der schwächste Quad-Core der Kaby-Lake-Serie während der Vorstellung und bietet wie der höher getaktete i5-7440HQ kein HyperThreading. Dies unterscheidet die Core i5 auch von den Core i7 Quad-Cores. Die vier CPU Kerne takten mit 2,5 bis 3,5 GHz (4 Kerne maximal 3,1 GHz, 2 Kerne max. 3,3 GHz). Der i5 integriert ausserdem eine HD Graphics 630 Grafikeinheit sowie einen Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller (DDR3L-1600/DDR4-2133). Die Fertigung erfolgt in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren.

Die Performance hängt stark vom verwendeten Arbeitsspeicher ab; mit schnellem DDR4-2133 im Dual-Channel-Betrieb sollte die Leistung mit einer dedizerten Nvidia GeForce 920M vergleichbar sein.

Anders als Skylake kann Kaby Lake nun auch H.265/HEVC im Main10-Profil mit 10 Bit Farbtiefe sowie Googles VP9-Codec in Hardware decodieren. Die Anfang Jänner eingeführten Dual-Core-Kaby-Lake-Prozessoren sollten außerdem schon HDCP 2.2 beherrschen.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die TDP wird mit 45 Watt spezifiziert und kann je nach Einsatzzweck auch auf 35 Watt abgesenkt werden vom Notebookhersteeller (cTDP Down). Dadurch verringert sich jedoch auch die Durchschnittliche Leistung, da der Turbo nicht so lange gehalten wird.
