Vor Kurzem haben wir das ThinkPad P1 G6 mit Core i9-13900H CPU, RTX 2000 GPU und 1600p IPS-Display getestet und festgestellt, dass es eine sehr konkurrenzfähige 16-Zoll-Workstation ist. Dieses Mal sind wir bereit, eine zweite Konfiguration mit Core i7-13800H, GeForce RTX 4080 GPU und 2400p OLED-Display zu testen, um zu sehen, wie sich die unterschiedlichen Spezifikationen auf Leistung, Akkulaufzeit, interne Hardware und mehr auswirken.

Zu beachten ist, dass die ThinkPad P1 16-Serie nicht mit der ThinkPad P16-Serie verwechselt werden sollte, die aus größeren und schwereren Modellen mit schnelleren Core HX-Serienoptionen besteht.

Wartung

Im Vergleich zur ThinkPad P1 G6 RTX 2000 verfügt die RTX 4080 Konfiguration über eine erweiterte Kühllösung mit einem größeren Lüfter, um die anspruchsvollere GPU unterzubringen. Leider geht dies auf Kosten von zwei Slots, wie in den Vergleichsbildern unten dargestellt.

Zubehör & Garantie

Im Karton befinden sich neben dem üblichen Netzteil und dem Papierkram keine weiteren Extras. Die Standardgarantie beträgt 3 Jahre.

Display — HDR400 mit DCI-P3-Farben

Das 4K-OLED-Panel bietet verbesserte Farben, schnellere Reaktionszeiten, Touchscreen-Funktionalität und eine höhere native Auflösung im Vergleich zum 2K-IPS-Panel unserer früheren RTX-2000-Konfiguration. Diese Vorteile gehen jedoch auf Kosten einer niedrigeren nativen Bildwiederholrate von nur 60 Hz und einer geringeren maximalen Helligkeit, wie unsere Tabelle unten zeigt. Je nach Anwendung könnte das IPS-Panel daher bevorzugt werden. Es ist bedauerlich, dass Lenovo keine Option für ein 120-Hz-OLED-Panel anbietet, wie es beim Vivobook Pro 16X der Fall ist.

Reaktionszeiten (Response Times) des Displays

Die Reaktionszeiten (Response Times) beschreiben wie schnell zwischen zwei Farben eines Pixels umgeschaltet werden kann. Langsame Response Times können zu einer verschwommenen Darstellung, Schlieren und Geisterbilder führen. Besonders bei schnellen 3D-Spielen sind kurze Umschaltzeiten wichtig.

Daher sind die gemessenen Reaktionszeiten besser als der Durchschnitt aller vermessenen Geräte (21.5 ms).

Die gemessenen Reaktionszeiten sind sehr kurz, wodurch sich der Bildschirm auch für schnelle 3D Spiele eignen sollte.
Im Vergleich rangierten die bei uns getesteten Geräte von 0.2 (Minimum) zu 636 (Maximum) ms. » 4 % aller Screens waren schneller als der getestete.
Daher sind die gemessenen Reaktionszeiten besser als der Durchschnitt aller vermessenen Geräte (33.7 ms).

Bildschirm-Flackern / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Eine günstige Methode um die Helligkeit eines Bildschirms zu steuern, ist die Beleuchtung periodisch ein- und auszuschalten. Dies nennt sich PWM (Pulsweitenmodulation) Diese Umschaltung sollte mit einer hohen Frequenz stattfinden damit das menschliche Auge kein Flimmern wahrnimmt. Wenn die Frequenz zu niedrig ist, kann dies zu Ermüdungserscheinungen, Augenbrennen, Kopfweh und auch sichtbaren Flackern führen.
Flackern / PWM festgestellt 60 Hz ≤ 100 % Helligkeit

Das Display flackert mit 60 Hz (im schlimmsten Fall, eventuell durch Pulsweitenmodulation PWM) bei einer eingestellten Helligkeit von 100 % und darunter. Darüber sollte es zu keinem Flackern kommen.

Die Frequenz von 60 Hz ist sehr gering und daher kann es bei allen Usern zu sichtbaren Flackern, brennenden Augen oder Kopfweh kommen.

Im Vergleich: 53 % aller getesteten Geräte nutzten kein PWM um die Helligkeit zu reduzieren. Wenn PWM eingesetzt wurde, dann bei einer Frequenz von durchschnittlich 17900 (Minimum 5, Maximum 3846000) Hz.

Die Pulsweitenmodulation tritt auf allen Helligkeitsstufen auf, wie es bei einem OLED-Panel zu erwarten ist. Wir haben eine Frequenz von 239 Hz im Bereich von 0 bis 57 Prozent Helligkeit und 60 Hz von 58 bis 100 Prozent Helligkeit festgestellt.

Testbedingungen

Wir haben Windows im Performance-Modus konfiguriert, bevor wir die folgenden Benchmarks durchgeführt haben. Lenovo Vantage enthält keine speziellen Energieprofile, um die Dinge einfach zu halten.

Es wird nur Optimus 1.0 unterstützt, ohne Advanced Optimus oder MUX-Optionen, was angesichts der High-End-GPU RTX 4080 etwas enttäuschend ist.

Prozessor

Der Core i7-13800H in unserem Gerät ist nur 3 bis 5 Prozent langsamer als die Core i9-13900H Konfiguration, selbst wenn man das Drosselverhalten berücksichtigt. Dieser Unterschied ist für die große Mehrheit der Nutzer im Grunde vernachlässigbar. Käufer, die auf der Suche nach einem spürbaren Leistungsschub sind, sollten stattdessen die ThinkPad P16-Serie in Betracht ziehen, die mit CPUs der Core HX-Serie ausgestattet ist.

LatencyMon zeigt DPC-Probleme beim Öffnen mehrerer Browser-Tabs unserer Homepage und 75 unterbrochene Frames bei der Wiedergabe eines einminütigen 4K60-Videos. Letzteres ist angesichts des Preises und des professionellen Aspekts des Modells besonders enttäuschend. Es deutet auch auf Treiberprobleme oder eine schlechte Handhabung von Hintergrundanwendungen hin, die das gerade fokussierte Fenster unterbrechen könnten.

Massenspeicher

Unser Testgerät wird mit dem Kioxia XG8 KXG8AZNV1T02 anstelle des SK Hynix PC711 auf unserem ursprünglichen ThinkPad P1 G6 geliefert. Die Gesamtleistung ist im Allgemeinen langsamer, vor allem beim Schreiben von Daten, aber die Leseraten sind dennoch ausgezeichnet, mit nur einer leichten Drosselung nach etwa 3 Minuten Belastung.

Bestimmte Konfigurationen des ThinkPad P1 G6 mehr als eine interne M.2-SSD unterstützen können. Diese spezielle Testkonfiguration kann jedoch nur ein Laufwerk unterstützen.

GPU Performance

Das Nvidia Control Panel gibt eine maximale Grafikleistung von 105 W an. In der Realität erreichen wir laut GPU-Z jedoch nur ein Maximum von 80 W. Die Gesamtleistung ist folglich 15 bis 20 Prozent langsamer als der durchschnittliche Laptop in unserer Datenbank mit der gleichen mobilen GeForce RTX 4080 GPU, da diese spezielle GPU häufiger bei höheren Leistungsgrenzen läuft.

Nichtsdestotrotz ist die Grafikleistung in den meisten Benchmarks mit Ausnahme der Specviewperf Siemens NX- und Medical-Tests immer noch deutlich besser als die der RTX 2000. Für eine schnellere Leistung bietet Lenovo die RTX 5000 in der höchsten Konfiguration an.

Die Ausführung im Balanced-Modus anstelle des Performance-Modus wirkt sich auf die GPU-Leistung aus, während die CPU weitgehend unbeeinflusst bleibt, wie unsere Fire-Strike-Ergebnisse in der Tabelle unten zeigen.

Die Frameraten im Leerlauf von Witcher 3 waren durchgehend konstant, bis auf einen Fall, in dem die Leistung auf 90 FPS einbrach, wie die Grafik unten zeigt. Der plötzliche Einbruch ist wahrscheinlich auf eine schlechte Handhabung von Hintergrundanwendungen zurückzuführen.

Geräuschemissionen

Die Lüftergeräusche sind bei anspruchsvoller Last lauter als bei der RTX 2000-Konfiguration. Bei der Ausführung von Witcher 3 beispielsweise liegen die Lüftergeräusche zwischen 47 und 55 dB(A) im Vergleich zu nur 41 bis 48 dB(A) bei der schwächeren Konfiguration. Ansonsten leistet das System hervorragende Arbeit, wenn es darum geht, über längere Zeiträume hinweg leise zu bleiben, wenn einfachere Prozesse wie Browser oder Videostreaming ausgeführt werden.

Die Oberflächentemperaturen können schon im Leerlauf auf dem Desktop recht warm werden, da die Lüfter erst bei höherer Last träge werden. Unter Prime95-Belastung stieg die CPU nur in den ersten paar Sekunden auf 4,1 GHz und 111 W, bevor sie sich bei 75 W und im Bereich von 2,5 bis 3,1 GHz stabilisierte. Vor allem die Kerntemperatur stabilisierte sich bei sehr warmen 97 °C, was darauf hindeutet, dass der Prozessor die Kühllösung bis an ihre Grenzen ausreizt, um das Turbo-Boost-Potenzial zu maximieren.

Die Grafikleistung wird reduziert, wenn der Prozessor im Balanced-Modus statt im Performance-Modus (siehe oben) läuft. Zum Beispiel würde sich die GPU bei 1890 MHz, 79 W und 77 °C stabilisieren, wenn Witcher 3 im Performance-Modus läuft, verglichen mit nur 1470 MHz, 52 W und 67 °C im Balanced-Modus.

Unser Testgerät ist generell anspruchsvoller als die schwächere RTX-2000-Konfiguration, was die kürzere Akkulaufzeit in unserem nächsten Abschnitt erklärt. Um anspruchsvolle Lasten darzustellen, würde das Ausführen von Witcher 3 beispielsweise 37% mehr Energie verbrauchen.

Mit dem mittelgroßen (~17 x 8,8 x 2,5 cm) 230-Watt-Netzteil können wir eine maximale Leistungsaufnahme von 197 W aufzeichnen, wenn CPU und GPU jeweils zu 100 Prozent ausgelastet sind.

Akkulaufzeit

Die Laufzeiten sind aufgrund des anspruchsvolleren OLED-Displays und der schnelleren GPU um mehr als die Hälfte kürzer als bei der RTX-2000-getriebenen Konfiguration. Selbst mit dem Energieprofil Balanced-Modus können wir nur knapp über 4 Stunden im WLAN surfen.

Das ThinkPad P1 G6 bietet eine breite Auswahl an Konfigurationen, darunter IPS, OLED, Core i7, Core i9 und GeForce RTX oder RTX Ada GPU-Optionen. Basierend auf unserer Erfahrung mit zwei sehr unterschiedlichen Konfigurationen weisen die beiden Prozessoroptionen (Core i7-13800H vs. Core i9-13900H) nur minimale Unterschiede zwischen ihnen auf. Das bedeutet, dass es klug wäre, sich für den günstigeren Core i7 zu entscheiden und die zusätzlichen Euros anderswo zu investieren.

Was das Display betrifft, gibt es die Wahl zwischen einem 1600p-IPS-Panel und einem 2400p-OLED-Panel. Ersteres bietet eine schnellere native Bildwiederholfrequenz und eine hellere maximale Helligkeit, während letzteres einen Touchscreen, DCI-P3-Farben, minimales Ghosting und HDR400-Unterstützung bietet. Möglicherweise werden zukünftige Modelle OLED-Panels mit 120 Hz verwenden, wie sie bei Notebooks wie dem Asus VivoBook immer häufiger anzutreffen sind.

Das ThinkPad P1 G6 bietet eine beeindruckende Leistung in Bezug auf das Gesamtvolumen, jedoch auf Kosten der Akkulaufzeit, lauterer Lüfter und eingeschränkter Upgrades im Vergleich zu den niedrigeren Konfigurationen.

Die Konfiguration mit schnelleren GPU-Optionen wie der RTX 5000 oder unserer RTX 4080 anstelle der RTX 2000 bringt einige Nachteile mit sich. Interne Speichererweiterungen werden eingeschränkter, die Lüftergeräusche werden unter Last lauter und die Akkulaufzeit nimmt einen spürbaren Schlag. Auch die Framerate-Einbrüche beim Videostreaming und die relativ niedrige TGP-Obergrenze von 80 Watt sollten beachtet werden. Dennoch bleibt das ThinkPad P1 G6 eine der leistungsstärksten mobilen Workstations seiner Größe und seines Gewichts. Wer etwas Vergleichbares sucht, sollte auch die voluminösere ThinkPad P16 Serie in Betracht ziehen.

Lenovo liefert das ThinkPad P1 G6 ab sofort in verschiedenen Konfigurationen aus, beginnend bei 2.739 Euro für die Basiskonfiguration mit Core i7/RTX A1000/1200p IPS bis zu 3.259 Euro und mehr, wenn es mit der RTX 4080 konfiguriert ist.
