Der AMD Ryzen 7 4980U ist ein Mobilprozessor für kleine und leichte Notebooks basierend auf die Renoir Generation. Der SoC beinhaltet acht Zen 2 Kerne (Octa-Core CPU) welche mit bis zu 4,4 GHz getaktet werden (Turbo) und SMT / Hyperthreading (16 Threads) unterstützen. Der Chip wird im modernen 7nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und soll laut AMD eine 2x verbesserte Performance pro Watt bieten als die Ryzen 3000 APUs (z.B. den Ryzen 7 3700U Vorgänger). Im Vergleich zum ähnlich benannten Ryzen 7 4800H, bietet der 4980U einen deutlich geringeren Basistakt und der TDP ist um 30 Watt geringer.

Durch die hohen Taktraten, sollte die CPU etwas schneller als der Ryzen 7 5700U (ebenfalls Zen2, 1,8 - 4,3 GHz) aber wahrscheinlich langsamer als der Zen 3 basierten Ryzen 7 5800U (2,9 - 4,4 GHz). Dank der 8 Rechenkerne ist die Multikernleistung hervorragend. Der hohe Turbo von 4,4 GHz sollte aber auch zu einer sehr guten Einzelkernleistung verhelfen. Dadurch sollte der R7 4980U, bei ausreichender Kühlung, zu einem der schnellsten 15-Watt-Prozessoren gehören.

Der SoC integriert neben den acht Prozessorkernen noch eine Radeon RX Vega 8 Grafikkarte mit 8 CUs und bis zu 1750 MHz Takt, einen Dual-Channel DDR4-3200 / LPDDR4-4266 Speicherkontroller und 8 MB Level 3 Cache. Der TDP ist laut Microsoft 15 Watt (Default) und sollte sich daher gut für das Surface Laptop 4 eignen.

AMD Ryzen 5 4600HS

Der AMD Ryzen 5 4600HS ist ein Mobilprozessor für große Notebooks (z.B. Gaming-Laptops) basierend auf die Renoir Generation. Der SoC beinhaltet sechs Zen 2 Kerne (Hexa-Core CPU) welche mit bis zu 4 GHz getaktet werden (Turbo) und SMT / Hyperthreading (12 Threads) unterstützen. Der Chip wird im modernen 7nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und soll laut AMD eine 2x verbesserte Performance pro Watt bieten als die Ryzen 3000 APUs (z.B. den Ryzen 5 3550H Vorgänger).

Durch die zwei deaktivierten Kerne und dem geringeren Turbo-Takt, sollte der Ryzen 5 4600HS deutlich hinter dem Ryzen 7 4800HS zurückbleiben. Das alte Spitzenmodell Ryzen 7 3750H sollte aber deutlich abgehängt werden. Verglichen mit Intel Prozessoren, gehen wir mit einer ähnlichen Performance wie der Core i7-8850H (6-Kerne, 2,6 - 4,3 GHz) aus. Laut Asus soll die Performance des HS-Modells sehr ähnlich zu dem Ryzen 5 4600H mit 10 Watt höherem TDP ausfallen.

Der SoC integriert neben den acht Prozessorkernen noch eine Radeon RX Vega 6 Grafikkarte mit 6 CUs und bis zu 1500 MHz Takt, einen Dual-Channel DDR4-3200 / LPDDR4-4266 Speicherkontroller und 8 MB Level 3 Cache. Im Vergleich zum Ryzen 5 4600H, bietet der 4600HS einen um 10 Watt geringeren TDP (35 versus 45 W) bei sonst gleichen Spezifikationen. Daher ist der Chip für große und schwere Notebooks vorgesehen und benötigt, trotz des effizienten 7nm Herstellungsprozesses, eine gute Kühlung um die Leistung auch dauerhaft zu erbringen. 

AMD Ryzen 5 4500U

Der AMD Ryzen 5 4500U ist ein Mobilprozessor für kleine und leichte Notebooks basierend auf die Renoir Generation. Der SoC beinhaltet sechs Zen 2 Kerne (Octa-Core CPU) (ohne SMT/Hyperthreading = 6 Threads) welche mit bis zu 4 GHz getaktet werden (Turbo). Der Chip wird im modernen 7nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und soll laut AMD eine 2x verbesserte Performance pro Watt bieten als die Ryzen 3000 APUs (z.B. den Ryzen 5 3500U Vorgänger).

Im Vergleich zum minimal schnelleren Ryzen 5 4600U, bietet der 4500U kein SMT / Hyperthreading aber einen höheren Basistakt. Dadurch sollte die Prozessor-Performance sehr ähnlich ausfallen.

Der SoC integriert neben den sechs Prozessorkernen noch eine Radeon RX Vega 6 Grafikkarte mit 6 CUs und bis zu 1500 MHz Takt, einen Dual-Channel DDR4-3200 / LPDDR4-4266 Speicherkontroller und 8 MB Level 3 Cache. Der TDP ist laut AMD von 10 - 25 Watt konfigurierbar (15 Watt Default). Daher ist der Chip auch für kleine und leichte Notebooks geeignet.
