Apple A12Z Bionic

Der Apple A12Z Bionic ist ein System on a Chip (SoC) von Apple, der im iPad Pro 11" und 12.5" aus 2020 verbaut wird. Er integriert acht 64-Bit-fähige ARM-Kernen (4 Performance, 4 Stromsparkerne). Im Vergleich zum Apple A12 Bionic sind dies 2 Performance Kerne mehr, die einen deutlichen Geschwindigkeitsgewinn bringen sollten. Die Unterschiede der CPU im Vergleich zum alten A12X (iPad Pro 2018) sind derzeit nicht bekannt und dürften nur gering sein (ev. höhere Taktraten). Apple spricht nur von einem verbesserten thermischen Design für höhere Peak- und längere Dauerperformance.

Er wird ebenfalls im neuen 7nm Prozess bei TSMC hergestellt und integriert eine 8 Kern Grafikkarte und eine Neural Engine mit 8 Kernen für bis zu 5 Billionen Operationen pro Sekunde (unverifiziert, Werte vom A12X). Die GPU bietet einen Kern mehr als beim alten A12X, weitere Unterschiede sind nicht bekannt. Eventuell setzt Apple sogar den selben Chip mit einem zusätzlich freigeschalteten GPU-Kern ein.
