Trotz aller Kritik an der Snapdragon-X1E-Serie meldet sich Qualcomm in diesem Jahr mit dem Snapdragon X2E zurück. Die Ergebnisse unserer Tests sind äußerst beeindruckend und übertreffen in vielerlei Hinsicht sogar die Intel-Panther-Lake-Core-X9-Serie.

Fazit – Der Snapdragon X1E wird deutlich übertroffen

Die Erwartungen an den Snapdragon X1E waren bei seiner Markteinführung im letzten Jahr hoch, doch die ersten Benchmark-Ergebnisse und Eindrücke blieben hinter den Anforderungen zurück. Der neue Snapdragon X2E ist allerdings eine so enorme Verbesserung gegenüber seinem Vorgänger, sodass er den neuesten konkurrierenden Panther Lake-X-Modellen, darunter dem Core Ultra X7 386H, in klassischen Multithread-Anwendungen ebenbürtig ist oder sie sogar übertrifft. Ein Großteil dieser Leistung bleibt auch bei der x64-Emulation erhalten, was bedeutet, dass der Leistungsabfall beim Ausführen nicht-nativer ARM-Apps mit der Snapdragon X2E-Serie geringer ausfällt.

Die oben genannten Vorteile wären entkräftet, würde das Snapdragon-System zur Erreichung seiner höheren Leistungsziele sehr heiß oder laut werden – doch dies ist nicht der Fall. Stattdessen läuft das Lenovo-ARM-System im Vergleich zu anderen x64-Subnotebooks wie dem Yoga Slim 7a 14 oder dem neuen Asus ExpertBook Ultra deutlich länger und kühler. Die Kernvorteile von ARM bleiben beim Snapdragon X2E in dieser Hinsicht erhalten.

Die Snapdragon-Serie hat trotz der deutlichen Fortschritte im Vergleich zum Vorjahr dennoch einen langen Weg vor sich. Einige Nischenanwendungen laufen nach wie vor überhaupt nicht, darunter in unserem Fall bestimmte Spiele (F1 24) und Software (X-Rite, MetraWin usw.). Mit anderen Worten: Leistung und Akkulaufzeit sind beeindruckend, wenn Software ausgeführt wird, die ordnungsgemäß für Windows ARM optimiert wurde; andernfalls herrscht in Sachen Zuverlässigkeit das Gesetz des Wilden Westens. Es spielt keine Rolle, wie schnell oder schlank das 2.000-Dollar-Modell des Yoga Slim 7 14 auch sein mag – wenn es mit den Apps, die für tägliche Arbeiten relevant sind, nicht funktioniert, nützt das nichts. Die integrierte GPU ist zwar nach wie vor hervorragend, bleibt aber ebenfalls etwas hinter der hochgelobten Arc B390 zurück.

Um auf Nummer sicher zu gehen, könnten die Intel- oder AMD-Varianten des Yoga Slim 7 14 in Betracht gezogen werden, die optisch identisch sind, jedoch kein Risiko von x64-Software-Inkompatibilitäten bergen.

Das Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 14Q8Y11 ist die ARM-basierte Variante des x64-Modells Yoga Slim 7 14. Es verfügt über den neuen Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-88-100-Prozessor, der die Snapdragon-X1E-Modelle des Vorjahres ablöst. Ansonsten ist das Modell optisch identisch mit dem Yoga Slim 7a 14, sodass sie vieles in unserem damaligen Test nachlesen können.

Unser Testgerät ist eine Top-Konfiguration mit dem Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-88-100 und einem 1200p60-OLED-Touchscreen für etwa 2.100 US-Dollar. Günstigere Modelle beginnen mit dem Snapdragon X2 Plus X2P-42-100, während die High-End-Varianten über einen OLED-Touchscreen mit einer höheren Auflösung von 1800p120 verfügen.

Das Qualcomm-Modell konkurriert mit anderen Prosumer-Subnotebooks wie dem Dell XPS 14, dem Asus ZenBook A14 oder der HP X OmniBook-Serie.

Nachhaltigkeit

Das Gehäuse besteht zu bis zu 60 Prozent aus einer recycelten Aluminiumlegierung für die Tastaturgrundplatte und die untere D-Abdeckung sowie zu bis zu 90 Prozent aus recyceltem PCC-Kunststoff für den Akku, die Tastaturkappen und das Adaptergehäuse. Die Verpackung selbst ist vollständig recycelbar und frei von Kunststoffen.

Reaktionszeiten (Response Times) des Displays

Die Reaktionszeiten (Response Times) beschreiben wie schnell zwischen zwei Farben eines Pixels umgeschaltet werden kann. Langsame Response Times können zu einer verschwommenen Darstellung, Schlieren und Geisterbilder führen. Besonders bei schnellen 3D-Spielen sind kurze Umschaltzeiten wichtig.

Daher sind die gemessenen Reaktionszeiten besser als der Durchschnitt aller vermessenen Geräte (31 ms).

Bildschirm-Flackern / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Eine günstige Methode um die Helligkeit eines Bildschirms zu steuern, ist die Beleuchtung periodisch ein- und auszuschalten. Dies nennt sich PWM (Pulsweitenmodulation) Diese Umschaltung sollte mit einer hohen Frequenz stattfinden damit das menschliche Auge kein Flimmern wahrnimmt. Wenn die Frequenz zu niedrig ist, kann dies zu Ermüdungserscheinungen, Augenbrennen, Kopfweh und auch sichtbaren Flackern führen.

≤ 100 % Helligkeit

Das Display flackert mit 482.1 Hz (im schlimmsten Fall, eventuell durch Pulsweitenmodulation PWM) bei einer eingestellten Helligkeit von 100 % und darunter. Darüber sollte es zu keinem Flackern kommen.

Die Frequenz von 482.1 Hz ist relativ hoch und sollte daher auch bei den meisten Personen zu keinen Problemen führen. Empfindliche User sollen laut Berichten aber sogar noch bei 500 Hz und darüber ein Flackern wahrnehmen.

Im Vergleich: 52 % aller getesteten Geräte nutzten kein PWM um die Helligkeit zu reduzieren. Wenn PWM eingesetzt wurde, dann bei einer Frequenz von durchschnittlich 7747 (Minimum 5, Maximum 343500) Hz.

Trotz der Klarheit des OLED-Displays hätte die maximale Helligkeit im SDR-Modus höher sein können, um die Spiegelung des Displays auszugleichen. Bei der Nutzung des Systems im Freien ist mit starken Reflexionen zu rechnen.

Leistung

Testbedingungen

Vor der Durchführung der nachstehenden Benchmarks haben wir Windows in den Leistungsmodus versetzt.

Prozessor

Die reine Multithread-Leistung des Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-88-100 hat sich gegenüber der Vorgängergeneration Snapdragon X Elite X1E-80 um etwa 50 bis 60 Prozent deutlich verbessert. Tatsächlich übertrifft der Qualcomm-Chip den neuen Panther Lake Core Ultra X9 388H bei der Ausführung nativer ARM-Anwendungen und kann bei der Ausführung von x64-Anwendungen über Emulation mit dem Intel-Chip mithalten.

Das Lüfterverhalten ähnelt dem, was wir beim Yoga Slim 7a 14 beobachtet haben, trotz der unterschiedlichen Prozessoren und der im Allgemeinen niedrigeren Kerntemperaturen des Qualcomm-Prozessors. Unser Testgerät blieb beim Surfen oder beim Streamen von Videos leise bis lautlos, doch bei höherer Auslastung, wie beispielsweise beim Spielen, drehten die Lüfter recht schnell ordentlich auf.

Stresstest

Die Leistungsaufnahme des SoC stieg beim Starten des Prime95-Stresstests kurzzeitig auf 76 W an, fiel dann jedoch rasch auf 43 W und schließlich auf 34 W ab, wie die folgenden Screenshots zeigen. Die Kerntemperatur stabilisiert sich dennoch bei relativ kühlen 73 °C, verglichen mit 80 °C oder 90 °C bei vielen Intel- oder AMD-Subnotebooks, wie etwa beim aktuellen Asus ExpertBook Ultra. Diese Messungen stimmen mit unseren oben genannten Durchschnittswerten für die Oberflächentemperatur überein.

Energiemanagement

Stromverbrauch

Der Stromverbrauch bei GPU-intensiven Anwendungen wie Spielen ist geringer als beim AMD-basierten Yoga Slim 7a 14, während das Gerät gleichzeitig deutlich schneller ist und somit eine wesentlich bessere Leistung pro Watt bietet. Andererseits ist der Stromverbrauch bei CPU-intensiven Aufgaben wie CineBench höher als bei AMD, doch die CPU-Leistung ist bei Qualcomm höher, was dies ausgleicht. Der durchschnittliche Stromverbrauch ist dennoch höher als bei Modellen mit Snapdragon-X1-SoCs der letzten Generation wie dem Asus ZenBook A14 oder dem HP Omnibook 5 14, insbesondere unter Last.

Akkulaufzeit

Die WLAN-Laufzeit knackt fast die 19-Stunden-Marke und das ist deutlich länger als bei herkömmlichen Intel- oder AMD-Subnotebooks. Das Honor MagicBook Pro 14 verfügt beispielsweise über einen größeren Akku, kann unser Qualcomm-System jedoch dennoch nicht übertreffen.
