AMD FX-9830P

Der AMD FX-9830P ist ein mobiler Mittelklasse-SoC der Bristol-Ridge APU-Serie für Notebooks (7. APU-Generation), die Mitte 2016 vorgestellt wurde. Der FX-9830P ist die schnellste APU mit 45 Watt TDP von Bristol-Ridge und Nachfolger des 15-35 Watt FX-8800P der Carrizo Serie. Der Chip integriert vier CPU-Kerne (zwei Excavator-Module = 4 Integer und 2 FP Einheiten), eine Radeon R7 Grafikkarte und einen Dual-Channel DDR4-2400 Speichercontroller. Als vollwertiger SoC verfügt Carrizo darüber hinaus über einen integrierten Chipsatz, der sämtliche I/O-Ports bereitstellt.

Architektur

Bei Bristol Ridge handelt es sich um den nahezu baugleichen Nachfolger der Carrizo-Architektur, der dank optimierter Fertigung und aggressiverem Boost-Verhalten jedoch bei gleicher Leistungsaufnahme etwas höhere Taktraten erreicht. Des Weiteren unterstützt der Speichercontroller nun auch DDR4-RAM, in diesem Fall bis zu einer Frequenz von 2.400 MHz. Weitere technische Details können in folgenden Artikeln nachgelesen werden:

Performance

Durch die höhere Taktrate platziert sich der FX-9830P etwas vor dem alten 35-Watt-Topmodell FX-8800P und konkurriert damit mit Einstiegs-Dual-Core Prozessoren von Intel (Skylake und Kaby Lake). Im Vergleich mit dem Intel-Modell kann sich der AMD-Chip bei guter Parallelisierung teils leicht absetzen, unterliegt jedoch bei Auslastung von nur 1 oder 2 Kernen. 

Für typische Office- und Internet-Anwendungensowie leichtes Multitasking stehen damit ausreichende Leistungsreserven bereit.

Grafikeinheit

Die integrierte Radeon R7 (Bristol Ridge) GPU verfügt über 512 aktive Shadereinheiten (8 Compute Cores), die mit bis zu 900 MHz takten (im Vergleich zu 758 MHz beim FX-9800P). Infolge der besseren Ausnutzung des Taktspielraums sowie des schnellen DDR4-Speichers übertrifft die GPU knapp ihre Vorgängermodelle Radeon R7 (Carrizo) und konkurriert im Optimalfall (Dual-Channel-Speicher) mit einer dedizierten GeForce 920MX. Viele Spiele des Jahres 2015/2016 können damit in niedrigen Einstellungen flüssig dargestellt werden.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die TDP des FX-9830P wird von AMD mit 25-48 Watt spezifiziert und ist somit vergleichbar zu den Intel Quad-Core H Serie Prozessoren. Dadurch eignet sich die APU am Besten für große und schwere Notebooks ab 15 Zoll.
