Der Intel Core i7-12800H ist eine High-End-CPU auf Basis der neuen Alder-Lake-Architektur, die im Januar 2022 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU basiert auf den Alder Lake-P Chip (für H und P-Serie) und bietet alle 6 Performance Kerne (P-Kerne, Golden Cove Architektur) und 8 Effizienzkerne (E-Kerne, Gracemont Architektur). Die P-Kerne unterstützten Hyperthreading (daher gemeinsam 20 Threads) und takten von 2,4 bis 4,8 GHz. Die E-Kerne takten von 1,8 - 3,7 GHz und sollen eine vergleichbare Performance wie alte Skylake Kerne bieten (z.B. i7-6920HQ ). Im Vergleich zum 12900H bietet der 12800H etwas geringere Taktraten und bietet ebenfalls das volle "Enterprise"-Set von vPro.
Performance
Durch die 14 Kerne sollte die Multithread-Leistung deutlich oberhalb der alten Tiger-Lake-8-Kerner liegen und auch das alte Topmodell Intel Core i9-11980HK schlagen. Bei der Einzelkernperformance dürfte der 12800H auch noch schneller sein, danke der neuen Architektur.
Grafikeinheit
Wie auch der Vorgänger, integriert Intel in Alder Lake eine Intel Xe basierende Grafikeinheit. Beim 12800H sind alle 96 EUs aktiviert und takten mit bis zu 1,4 GHz.

Die CPU basiert auf den Alder Lake-S Desktop-Chip und bietet alle 8 Performance Kerne (P-Kerne, Golden Cove Architektur) und 8 Effizienzkerne (E-Kerne, Gracemont Architektur). Die P-Kerne unterstützten Hyperthreading (daher gemeinsam 24 Threads) und takten von 2,3 bis 5 GHz. Die E-Kerne takten von 1,7 - 3,6 GHz und sollen eine vergleichbare Performance wie alte Skylake Kerne bieten (z.B. i7-6920HQ ). Im Unterschied zum i9-12900HX, bietet der 12950HX Intel vPro Managment Features und ECC Speicher (Nachfolger der Xeon Linie). Die Übertaktungsoptionen sind jedoch etwas begrenzt.
Performance
Durch die zwei zusätzlichen P-Kerne und den höheren TDP sollte der i9-12950HX deutlich schneller sein als der i9-12900HK . Dadurch eignet sich die CPU hervorragend für anspruchsvolle Anwendungen und Spiele.

Wie auch der Vorgänger, integriert Intel in Alder Lake eine Intel Xe basierende Grafikeinheit. Beim 12950HX sind alle 32 EUs aktiviert und takten mit bis zu 1,55 GHz. Der schwächere 12900HK Mobilchip bietet 96 EUs.

Die neuen Golden Cove Kerne bieten eine leicht höhere Single Thread Performance und dank der gesamt 14 Kerne können Multi-Thread-Anwendungen deutlich beschleunigt werden. Intel gibt z.b. bei Spielen eine 13% höhere Performance an (1080p high) und bei Blender Rendering 30% weniger Renderzeit (BMW Car Demo).
