Die AMD Radeon HD 7870 ist eine DirectX-11.1-fähige High-End-Grafikkarte für Desktop-PCs. Sie entsteht im 28-nm-Verfahren und basiert auf der sparsamen GCN-Architektur (Graphics Core Next). Der Codename des Chips lautet Pitcairn XT.

Das rund 350 Euro teure Oberklasse-Modell (Stand: Mitte 2012) verfügt über 1280 Shader- und 80 Textureinheiten. AMD setzt bei der Basisvariante auf einen Kerntakt von 1.000 MHz und einen Speichertakt von 1.200 MHz (4.800 MHz effektiv). Der 2.048 MByte große GDDR5-VRAM ist mit 256 Bit angebunden.

Die Leistung bewegt sich etwas über dem mobilen Topmodell Radeon HD 7970M und reicht locker für hohe oder maximale Details in aktuellen Spielen des Jahres 2013. Hohe Auflösungen und mehrfache Kantenglättung sind für die 28-nm-GPU meist kein Problem. Per CrossFire (zwei Grafikkarten im Verbund) lässt sich die Power auf Wunsch deutlich erhöhen.

Eyefinity repräsentiert eine Mehrbildschirm-Technik, die es dem Anwender erlaubt, bis zu sechs Monitore parallel zu betreiben. ZeroCore ist hingegen eine neue Stromspartechnik, welche den Energieverbrauch bei inaktivem Display verringert. PowerTune regelt derweil dynamisch den Takt. Die 3D-Technologie HD3D benötigt Hard- und Software von Drittherstellern und ist bei weitem nicht so ausgereift wie Nvidias 3D Vision.

Ein HD-Audiocontroller gehört inzwischen zum Pflichtprogramm. AMD nennt auf seiner Homepage die Formate AC-3, AAC, Dolby TrueHD und DTS Master Audio. Praktisch: Via HDMI kann man 7.1-Surround-Sound an externe Geräte übertragen. Der integrierte Video-Decoder namens UVD beherrscht die Formate H.264, VC-1, MPEG-2 (SD & HD), MVC (Blu-ray 3D), MPEG-4 Part 2 (DivX/Xvid), Adobe Flash, WMV HD und DXVA 1.0 / 2.0.

Die Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Xe-LP, Alder Lake-N, Gen 12.2) ist eine Prozessorgrafikkarte in Alder Lake-N CPU, welche in 2022 vorgestellt wurden. Sie basiert auf die neue Xe Architektur (Gen12) und bietet eine deutlich höhere Leistung als die Vorgängergenerationen. Die Leistung ist abhängig von der Taktrate (je nach Prozessormodell) und dem verwendeten Hauptspeicher (da shared Memory). Die 24 EU-Variante (Execution Units) bietet nur 24 der 32 EUs (192 der 256 Shader).

Durch die geringe CPU-Leistung, fehlenden dedizierten Speicher, single Channel-Spiecherkanal und die geringe Anzahl an Shader, ist die Spieleleistung der UHD Graphics in Alder Lake-N deutlich eingeschränkt. Dadurch sind nur wenige aktuelle Spiele flüssig spielbar.

Die GPU unterstützt maximal drei Displays mit einer maximalen Auflösung von 4096x2160 bei 60Hz.
