MiFCOM AMD-Desktop-PC mit Radeon RX 6800 XT und Ryzen 9 im Test

AMD-Power! Lange haben wir auf neue High-End-Grafikkarten von AMD warten müssen. Was soll man sagen, das Warten hat sich gelohnt. AMD ist mit den neuen Navi-21 getauften Chips zurück im High-End-Bereich und kann Nvidia Paroli bieten. Was die RX 6800 XT noch zu bieten hat, erfahren Sie in diesem Review.

Für diesen Test haben wir von MiFCOM ein Komplett-System gestellt bekommen, welches zugleich als Testplattform dient. Einen großen Unterschied zu unserem Testsystem besteht allerdings nicht. Wir nutzen das gleiche Asus X570 ROG Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi sowie eine neue Zen-3-CPU. MiFCOM geht hier in die Vollen und packt den 16 Kerner aka Ryzen 9 5950X auf die Hauptplatine. Beim Arbeitsspeicher gibt es allerdings noch etwas Luft nach oben, denn die 32 GB (2x 16 GB) Takten nur mit 3.200 MHz. Optimaler wäre hier ein 4.000 MHz Kit, um dem Ryzen 9 5950X noch etwas mehr Leistung abverlangen zu können.

Der Pixelbeschleuniger stammt von AMD und kommt im Referenzdesign daher. Gleichwohl wirkt die AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT sehr dominant im Gehäuse, was auf die üppige 2,5-Slot-Kühlung zurückzuführen ist. Die AMD Radeon RX 6800 ist etwas schlanker und benötigt nur zwei Steckplätze.

Verstaut ist alles in einem sehr aufgeräumten Lian Li O11 Dynamic Gehäuse mit Sichtfenstern in der Front und der Seite. Als CPU-Kühlung verbaut MiFCOM eine AiO von Corsair mit einem 360-Millimeter-Radiator. Insgesamt befinden sich neun 120 Millimeter-Lüfter in dem Gehäuse und sorgen somit für eine sehr gute Luftzirkulation.

Prozessor- / System-Benchmarks

Nachdem AMD mit den neuen Ryzen der 5000er-Serie die Messlatte in Sachen Gaming-Performance deutlich erhöht haben, ist es nicht verwunderlich, warum MiFCOM bei dem Gaming-PC auf den sehr schnellen AMD Ryzen 9 5950X setzt. Dieser konnte bereits bei uns im Test sein Können unter Beweis stellen und Intel deutlich auf die hinteren Plätze verweisen. Mit 16 Kernen bietet der Ryzen 9 5950X nicht nur mehr Kerne, sondern kann auch bei Single-Thread-Anwendungen überzeugen. Zudem sind die Ryzen-Prozessoren sparsamer als die Konkurrenz.

Hier im Test mit zahlreichen Benchmarks gibt der Ryzen 9 5950X meistens den Ton an. Intels Core i9-10900K kann nur bedingt mithalten und driftet in das Mittelfeld ab. Für die anstehenden Spieletests ist der AMD Ryzen 9 5950X somit die beste Wahl. Etwas preiswerter sind die 12-, 8- und 6-Kerner der Zen-3-Familie. Diese bieten ebenfalls eine tolle Leistung, wenngleich die Multi-Core-Performance aufgrund der geringeren Anzahl an Recheneinheiten geringer ist.

Belastungstest mit der Cinebench-R15-Multi-Schleife

Beim Belastungstest, mit der Cinebench-R15-Multi-Schleife, hat der AMD Ryzen 9 5950X im geschlossenen System sehr gut die Leistung halten. Nach dem ersten Drittel ist jedoch ein leichter Leistungsverlust zu verzeichnen, sodass im Durchschnitt 4.133 Punkte erreicht wurden. Dass noch Potenzial in dem System steckt, konnte der Ryzen 9 5950X in unserem Review unter Beweis stellen. Hierzu sei aber zu erwähnen, dass es sich da um ein offenes Testsystem handelt. Auch der Arbeitsspeicher war zu diesem Test mit 4.000 MHz getaktet. Trotzdem ist das System von MiFCOM in der Lage, den Prozessor zuverlässig zu kühlen. Die verbaute 360er AiO von Corsair leistet hier sehr gute Dienste.

Kommen wir aber nun zum eigentlichen Highlight des Tests, die neue AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT. Diese ist AMD’s bislang schnellste Grafikkarte für Endkunden. Die bereits angekündigte AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT folgt erst am 08.12.2020. Der Navi21 getaufte Grafikchip wird im bekannten 7 nm Verfahren gefertigt und verfügt über 4.608 Shadereinheiten. Anders als Nvidia setzt AMD bei seinen High-End-Grafikkarten auf GDDR6 und nicht auf GDDR6X VRAM. Das mindert die Bandbreite, welche aber beim Referenzmodell immerhin noch mit 512 GB/s sehr hoch ist. Dafür gibt es aber mit 16 GB mehr als beim direkten Konkurrenten, denn die GeForce RTX 3080 bietet nur 10 GB VRAM. Nur die GeForce RTX 3090 bietet mit 24 GB mehr. Neu ist der Infinity-Cache mit 128 MB, welcher als L3-Cache erstmals ein Teil des GPU-Die darstellt. Dies wiederum sorgt für einen ordentlichen Leistungsschub. Erinnern wir uns an die Zen-3-Prozessoren, so kommen diese auf einen L3-Cache von 64 MB.

Erstmals unterstützt AMD mit den Grafikkarten der 6000er-Serie Raytracing. Genau wie bei Nvidia kommen bei AMD ebenfalls separate RT-Beschleuniger zum Einsatz. Pro CU gibt es bei den neuen RDNA 2 Grafikkarten einen RT-Core, welcher in Summe bei der RX 6800 XT 72 ergibt. Leistungstechnisch haben die RT-Cores gegenüber dem Pendant von Nvidia aber noch einen Nachteil für AMD, welcher sich auch in den Benchmarks der getesteten Spiele niederschlägt. DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) gibt es momentan nur bei Nvidia. Gleichwohl arbeitet AMD aber an einer eigenen Variante dieser Technik. Wann diese aber marktreif ist, bleibt abzuwarten.

Bei den Taktraten hat AMD ordentlich Hand angelegt. Auf dem Papier stehen 1.825 MHz Basistakt für die RX 6800 XT. Der sogenannte „Game Clock“ wird mit 2.015 MHz angegeben. Das ist die Taktrate, die in Spielen erreicht wird. Hier lässt sich aber sagen, dass dieser Wert oftmals deutlich übertroffen wird. Den Boost-Takt gibt AMD mit 2.250 MHz an. Lässt man aber WattMan während der Tests eingeblendet, so erreicht die AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT Taktraten zwischen 2.200 – 2.400 MHz. Die Leistung fordert auch ihren Tribut in Sachen Leistungsaufnahme. Diese beträgt gem. AMD 300 Watt für die gesamte Grafikkarte (Total Board Power).

Synthetische Benchmarks

Bei den synthetischen Benchmarks liefert die AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT eine sehr gute Leistung und ist teilweise sogar schneller, als eine Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. Gleichwohl konnte die Leistung im Vergleich zur AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT nahezu verdoppelt werden.

Grundsätzlich kann die AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT an die guten Ergebnisse der synthetischen Benchmarks ansetzen. Bei allen Spieletests macht die neue AMD Grafikkarte eine sehr gute Figur. Selbst in 4K macht die Grafikkarte nicht schlapp und erreicht meistens Framerate jenseits der 60 FPS. In einigen Fällen sinkt die Framerate auch unter die 60 FPS, was sich aber in Grenzen hält, sodass trotzdem spielbare Frameraten erreicht werden. Vergleichen wir nun die Leistung der AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT mit der Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, so hat mal AMD und mal Nvidia die Nase vorn. So liegt es oftmals am Spiel, wenn es um die bessere Performance geht. Für den direkten Raytracing-Vergleich haben wir uns einmal Control herausgesucht, um die Performance der neuen AMD-Grafikkarte bewerten zu können. Grundsätzlich geht es in die richtige Richtung, wenngleich Nvidia aber in dieser Disziplin noch einen deutlichen Vorteil bietet. AMD ist mit der Radeon RX 6800 XT etwa auf dem Leistungsniveau einer GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. Flüssiges Spielen war aber in diesem Fall mit 67 FPS dennoch möglich.

Als Exempel für die Frametimes und einen Frameverlauf dient das Spiel The Witcher 3 (Ultra-Preset). Hier gibt es einzelne Ausreißer, welche aber nicht spürbar sind. Der Frameverlauf ist ebenfalls gut und auch hier gibt es nur einzelne Abweichungen nach oben und unten. Compute Performance

Die Compute Performance konnte AMD mit RDNA 2 deutlich steigern. Das zeigen die durchgeführten Tests im Vergleich zur AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT. Es duellieren sich hierbei wieder die AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT sowie die Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. Oftmals ist aber sogar die deutlich teurere GeForce RTX 3090 unterlegen. Bei den Rendertests, welche mit SPECviewperf simuliert werden, konnte die AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT einen Leistungszuwachs im Vergleich zur Vorgängergeneration verbuchen. Allerdings fällt der Zuwachs hier deutlich geringer aus.
