Intel Pentium 987

Der Intel Pentium 987 ist ein Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) Einstiegs Doppelkernprozessor für kleine und leichte Notebooks welcher Mitte 2012 vorgestellt wurde. Er bietet zwei Kerne und basiert auf der Sandy Bridge Architektur. Im Vergleich zu den Core i3, i5 und i7 Doppelkernprozessoren, sind jedoch die meisten Features deaktiviert (Turbo Boost, Virtualization VT-x und VT-d, Trusted Execution, AES, HyperThreading). Die integrierte Grafikkarte basiert auf die HD Graphics 2000, wird jedoch von Intel nur HD Graphics benannt und mit 350 bzw. 1000MHz (Turbo Boost) getaktet. Ausserdem ist ein DDR3-1333 Dual Channel Speicherkontroller in dem Prozessor integriert.

Die Performance liegt dank der verbesserten Architektur etwas oberhalb einer ähnlich getakteten Arrandale CPU und somit deutlich über dem Level eines Intel Pentium U5600 mit 1.33 GHz.

Die Sandy Bridge Doppelkernprozessoren beinhalten in der angegebenen TDP von 17 Watt auch die Grafikkarte und den Speicherkontroller. Mit 17 Watt TDP eignet sich der Prozessor für sehr kleine und leichte Notebooks.
