Mit den aktuellen RTX-3000-Grafikkarten hat Nvidia die Leistung im Vergleich zur RTX-2000-Serie nochmals deutlich noch oben schrauben können. Nun konnten wir uns auch von der Leistung der GeForce RTX 3060 selbst überzeugen können. Für dieses Review kam eine INNO3D GeForce RTX 3060 Twin X2 mit dem neueren LHR-Chip zum Einsatz. Dieser Zusatz deutet darauf hin, dass es sich um eine Grafikkarte handelt, die speziell für das Mining mit dem ethash-Algorithmus ausgebremst wurde, um die Grafikkarte für das sogenannte Krypto-Mining unattraktiv zu machen. Preislich hatte sich dieser Ansatz leider nicht ausgewirkt, denn noch immer sind die Modelle deutlich über der UVP (329 Euro) gelistet. Mit knapp 690 Euro kostet die INNO3D GeForce RTX 3060 Twin X2 mehr als doppelt so viel. Damit zählt dieses Modell allerdings schon zu den preiswerteren Modellen, die es derzeit zu kaufen gibt.

Der GA106-Grafikchip bietet 3.854 Shadereinheiten und kann auf 12-GB-GDDR6-VRAM zugreifen. Damit bekommt das kleineste Modell den zweitgrößten VRAM der RTX-3000-Serie verpasst. Aufgrund des Speicherinterfaces bliebt Nvidia nur die Wahl zwischen 6 GB oder 12 GB. Um nicht wieder einen Speicherkrüppel als Einstiegsgrafikkarte zu verkaufen, hat sich der Hersteller unserer Ansicht nach völlig richtig entschieden. In den vielen Spieletests konnten wir sehr häufig eine VRAM-Nutzung von mehr als 6 GB feststellen. Beim Energiebedarf (170 Watt) liegt das INNO3D-Modell genau auf dem Level, was seitens Nvidia für das Referenz-Design vorgegeben wird. Das gilt auch für die Taktraten von Grafikchip und VRAM.

Bei den Abmessungen gibt es keine große Überraschungen. Mit 24 Zentimetern Länge ist die INNO3D GeForce RTX 3060 Twin X2 eine herkömmliche 2-Slot-Grafikkarte. Außerdem verlangt die INNO3D GeForce RTX 3060 Twin X2 nach einem 8 Pin-Stromanschluss. Extern können bis zu vier Monitore gleichzeitig betrieben werden. Dafür gibt es einmal HDMI mit dem neuesten Standard (2.1) und drei DisplayPort-Anschlüsse (1.4a).

Unser Testsystem mit AMD Ryzen 9 5900X als Basis

Als Testsystem dient eine aktuelle AMD-Plattform auf Basis des Asus X570 ROG Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi. Die CPU (AMD Ryzen 9 5900X) bietet eine gute CPU-Leistung und als Kühlung nutzen wir eine AiO (G.Skill ENKI 360). Der 32-GB-Arbeitsspeicher stammt von G.Skill und wurde uns ebenfalls wie die AiO zur Verfügung gestellt. Als Monitor nutzen wir den Acer Predator XB321HK, dieser schränkt uns aufgrund der UHD-Tauglichkeit nicht ein. Ein großer Dank geht an dieser Stelle an AMD für die Bereitstellung der Testplattform.

Die Taktraten der INNO3D GeForce RTX 3060 Twin X2

Wie eingangs schon erwähnt, liegen die Taktraten der INNO3D GeForce RTX 3060 Twin X2 gleichauf mit der Founders Edition von Nvidia. Gleiches gilt auch für das Power-Limit, welches bei 170 Watt für die gesamte Grafikkarte liegt. Außerdem lässt sich das Powert-Target bei unserem Testsample nicht weiter erhöhen. Somit bleibt es bei den maximalen 170 Watt, was auch das Übertaktungspotenzial etwas einschränkt.

Synthetische Benchmarks

Beim ersten Eindruck über die Leistung der INNO3D GeForce RTX 3060 Twin X2 macht sich erst einmal Ernüchterung breit. Bei den durchgeführten 3DMark Benchmarks kann unser Testsample gerade so mit einer GeForce RTX 2060 Super mithalten. AMD kann sich mit der Radeon RX 6600 XT einen Vorsprung von teilweise bis zu 29 Prozent erarbeiten. Bei den weiteren Tests konnte diese Lücke aber deutlich verkleinert werden.

Bei unseren Spieletests macht unsere INNO3D GeForce RTX 3060 Twin X2 eine vergleichsweise bessere Figur. Der Rückstand zur AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT ist aber weiterhin gegeben. Bei sehr speicherintensiven Spielen, wie beispielsweise Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, macht sich der größere VRAM positiv bemerkbar. Hier kann sich unser Testsample in 1.080p mit maximalen Details um 7 Prozent absetzen. Bei noch höheren Auflösungen (2.160p) kann der Vorsprung sogar auf bis zu 15 Prozent, verglichen mit der AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT, ausgebaut werden. Gleichwohl sei aber zu erwähnen, dass die 36,6 FPS im Schnitt kein gutes Spieleerlebnis sind. Vielmehr richtet sich die GeForce RTX 3060 an Spieler, die vorrangig in 1.080p oder 1.440p spielen. Letzteres ist aber auch bei der RTX 3060 je nach Spiel nicht immer flüssig. Einige wenige Games rutschen im QHD-Test unter 40 FPS.

Wer meistens in 1080p oder 1440p spielt, wird mit der Leistung der INNO3D GeForce RTX 3060 Twin X2 aber dennoch glücklich werden.

Die 12-GB-VRAM sind gut und machen diese Karte zukunftssicherer als vergleichbare Modelle. Bei den Frametimes und dem Frameverlauf nutzen wir wie immer das Spiel The Witcher 3 (1080p-Ultra-Preset). Compute Performance

In ComputeMark kann sich unsere GeForce RTX 3060 oftmals gegen die AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT durchsetzen. Beim LuxMark-Test sieht das Ergebnis allerdings ganz anders aus. Bei den Rendertests haben die normalen Desktop-Grafikkarten gegenüber den professionellen Grafiklösungen, wie zum Beispiel die Quadro- oder Fire-Pro-Modelle, deutliche Nachteile. Aufgrund angepasster Treiber sind deutlich höhere Leistungen im Compute-Bereich zu erwarten. Im Großen und Ganzen rangiert unsere INNO3D GeForce RTX 3060 Twin X2 zwischen einer GeForce RTX 2060 und der GeForce RTX 2070.
