Der AMD A10-4600M ist ein mobiler Quad-Core-Prozessor basierend auf der Trinity-Architektur. Er repräsentiert den derzeit (2. Quartal 2012) schnellsten Ableger der A-Serie und löst seinen Vorgänger Llano ab. Die in 32 Nanometer gefertigte Notebook-APU beinhaltet den 2,3 bis 3,2 GHz schnellen Prozessorteil mit zwei sogenannten Modulen, die leistungsstarke Grafikeinheit Radeon HD 7660G sowie die Northbridge samt Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller (maximal DDR3-1600).

Das Modul-Konzept der CPU basiert auf AMDs Bulldozer-Architektur, welche bei Trinity in einer überarbeiteten Fassung zum Einsatz kommt. Die neuen Piledriver-Kerne bieten zwar eine leicht verbesserte Pro-MHz-Leistung, benötigen für eine gute Performance aber noch immer sehr hohe Taktraten. Pro Modul sind zwei Integer-Einheiten, aber nur eine FPU verbaut, weshalb beim A10-4600M nur bedingt von einem echten 4-Kerner gesprochen werden kann. Dementsprechend kann sich Trinity zumindest bei Multithreading nur wenig von Llano absetzen. Featureseitig bietet die CPU nahezu alle aktuellen Techniken wie AVX (inkl. FMA), AES oder Turbo Core 3.0.

Die Prozessorleistung des A10-4600M liegt je nach Benchmark zwischen 0 und 25 Prozent über dem Llano-basierten A8-3520M, wobei vor allem Singlethread-Anwendungen von der neuen Modul-Architektur und der hohen Turbotaktrate von bis zu 3,2 GHz profitieren. Eine vergleichbar schnelle Intel-CPU ist beispielsweise der Core i3-2310M, wobei es auch hier starke Schwankungen von Benchmark zu Benchmark gibt. Die Leistungsfähigkeit genügt für alle alltäglichen Aufgaben wie Office-Programme oder das Surfen im Internet, aber auch die meisten modernen 3D-Spiele.

Mit 384 Shader-ALUs repräsentiert die Radeon HD 7660G die maximale Ausbaustufe der Grafikeinheit von Trinity. Die Basistaktrate von 497 MHz kann per Turbo bis auf 686 MHz angehoben werden und ermöglicht es, viele aktuelle Spiele bei mittleren Einstellungen flüssig darzustellen. Das Leistungsniveau entspricht in etwa einer dedizierten Radeon HD 6650M und übertrifft Intels HD 4000 deutlich. Erstmals ist auch eine spezielle Video-Encoding-Einheit vergleichbar zu Intels Quick Sync enthalten, deren genaue Funktion wir auf der Seite der 7660G näher beschrieben haben.

Die Leistungsaufnahme der gesamte APU wird von AMD mit 35 Watt beziffert, was vergleichbar mit gängigen Mittelklassemodellen der Konkurrenz ist. Damit ist der A10-4600M am besten für Notebooks ab 14 Zoll geeignet.
