Die Nvidia Quadro T2000 with Max-Q Designs ist eine professionelle Mittelklasse-Grafikkarte für Notebooks und mobile Workstations. Sie basiert auf den selben TU117 Turing-Chip wie die Consumer GTX 1650 Ti (Desktop) mit 1024 Shadern. Die Max-Q Variante ist eine auf Effizienz optimierte Version der Quadro T2000 mit verringerten Taktraten. Nach aktuellen Informationen gibt es zwei Varianten mit 35 und 40 Watt Stromverbrauch (TGP) und unterschiedlichen Taktraten.

Die Quadro-Grafikkarten bieten zertifizierte Treiber, welche auf Stabiltität und Performance bei professionellen Anwendungen (CAD-, DCC-, Medizin-, Prospektions-, Visualisierungsanwendungen) optimiert sind. Dadurch ist die Performance im Vergleich zu den Consumergrafikkarten mit gleichem Chip in diesen Bereichen deutlich besser.

Die kleineren Chips der Turing Serie bietet im Unterschied zu den stärkeren RTX Karten (z.B. Quadro RTX 3000) keine Raytracing und Tensor Kerne. Bei der Turing Architektur gab es auch auf der Ebene der CUDA-Kerne deutliche Verbesserungen. Float und INT Operationen können nun gleichzeitig ausgeführt werden, der Cache wurde vereinheitlicht und verbessert und Adaptive Shading eingeführt. Nvidia spricht dadurch von einer bis zu 50% höheren Leistung pro Kern im Vergleich zu Pascal.

Die Leistung im professionellen Bereich ist je nach Version deutlich unter der normalen Quadro T2000, bei Spielen sollte die Performance der mobilen GTX 1650 trotz der niedrigen Taktraten erreicht werden.

Der Chip wird bei TSMC im 12nm FFN Prozess produziert und durch den relativ niedrigen Stromverbrauch der Max-Q Varianten, eignet sich die T2000Max-Q auch für dünne und leichte Notebooks.

AMD Radeon RX 540

Die AMD Radeon RX 540 ist eine mobile Grafikkarte basierend auf den kleinen Polaris 12? Chip von AMD. Sie bietet nur 512 Shader, ist jedoch mit 1219 MHz relativ hoch getaktet (im Vergleich zur Radeon Pro 450 z.B.). Dadurch ist die Peak Performance von 1,2 TFLOPS auch 20% höher als bei der Radeon Pro 450 (1 TFLOPS) und etwas hinter der Radeon Pro 455 (1,3 TFLOPS). Laut AMD wird die GPU auch mit bis zu 4 GB GDDR5 Grafikspeicher bei 6 Gbs (96 GB/s) ausgeliefert, und hat dadurch ebenfalls einen Vorteil zur Radeon Pro 450 und 455 (2 GB GDDR5 mit 5 Gbs).

Die RX 540 nutzt die Polaris Architektur der 400er Serie und bietet lediglich einen leicht verbesserten Prozess der höhere Taktraten erlaubt. Mehr Informationen zur Polaris Architektur finden sie hier in unserem Fokusartikel.

Laut der theoretischen Peak Performance sollte sich die RX 540 knapp hinter der Radeon Pro 455 im MacBook Pro 15 einreihen (siehe für Benchmarks).  Vergleichen mit Nvidia Grafikkarten wäre dies das Niveau einer GeForce GTX 950M - 960M.

Die mobile Radeon RX 540 sollte alle Features der Polaris Chips unterstützen, so wie DisplayPort 1.4 (ready), HDMI 2.0b, neue H.265 Video-En- und Decoder und Architekturverbesserungen. 

Der Stromverbrauch der schnelleren Radeon Pro 460 ist laut AMD Blog Post bei 35 Watt (Power Envelope). Die RX 540 sollte dadurch etwas weniger verbrauchen, durch die geringere Leistung und den kleineren Polaris 12 Chip.

NVIDIA T1200 Laptop GPU

Die Nvidia T1200 Laptop GPU (früher Quadro T1200 für Laptops) ist eine professionelle Grafikkarte für Notebooks und mobile Workstations der Mittelklasse. Sie basiert auf den selben TU117 Turing-Chip wie die Consumer GTX 1650 Ti für Laptops. Im Gegensatz zur stärkeren RTX A2000, bietet die T1200 keine Raytracing und Tensor-Kerne.

Die Leistung der T1200 für Laptops hängt stark von der eingesetzten TGP-Variante und Kühlung ab. Diese kann laut Nvidia von 35 - 95 Watt maximalen Stromverbrauch festgesetzt werden und unterscheidet sich daher deutlich bei Taktraten und Performance. Daher ist es wichtig zu wissen welche TGP Variante im Notebook eingesetzt wird. Es gibt nun keine Max-Q Variante mehr (die 35+ Versionen heissen auch nur "Laptop GPU"), aber jede TGP-Version kann die Max-Q Technologien nutzen (Dynamic Boost, WhisperMode).
