Die AMD Radeon RX Vega M GH ist die integrierte Grafikkarte in den stärkeren Intel Kaby-Lake-G SoCs, wie dem Core i7-8709G und i7-8709G. Sie wurde Anfang 2018 von Intel vorgestellt und befindet sich direkt auf dem selben Package wie der Kaby-Lake Prozessor und 4 GB HBM2 Grafikspeicher. Nach ersten veröffentlichten Benchmarks von Intel sollte die Leistung knapp unter einer GTX 1060 für Laptops liegen. Die Treiber werden von Intel veröffentlicht, sind jedoch anscheinend nur leicht modifizierte AMD Treiber. Die Vega M GH nutzt 24 CUs (1.536 Shader) bei einer Taktrate von 1063 bis 1190 MHz (Boost).

Anscheinend ist die Grafikkarte eine Mischung aus Polaris (Shader?) und Vega (zumindest dem Speicherkontroller). Nähere Informationen gibt es nicht, jedoch gibt sich die GPU als Polaris 22 aus und unterstützt auch nicht die selben DirectX 12 Features wie die Vega Desktop Grafikkarten. Der Stromverbrauch sollte ähnlich einer dedizierten Vega Mobile GPU sein, wobei die Kaby-Lake-G Kombination eventuell durch eine gemeinsame Stromversorgung effizienter arbeiten kann.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q

Die Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 mit Max-Q Design ist eine Mittelklasse-GPU basierend auf der Pascal-Architektur und wurde im Januar 2018 vorgestellt. Je nach Kühlungsdesign ist sie 10-15% langsamer als eine GTX 1050. Wie die GTX 1050, basiert die Max-Q Variante auf den GP107 Chp, der in 14 nm bei Samsung produziert wird.

Im Vergleich zur normalen GTX 1050 gibt es noch weitere Unterschiede als den Takt. Der Treiber wurde auf Effizienz (und nicht Leistung) optimiert (nur für die Max-Q Modelle), optimierte Spannungswandler für 1V Betreib, high-end Kühlungsmethoden und eine 40 dB Grenze für die Lüfterlautstärke (mit Taktanpasssungen um dies jederzeit zu gewährleisten) zeichnen die Max-Q Variante aus.

Features

Der GP107-Chip wird in einem 14-nm-FinFET-Prozess bei Samsung gefertigt und bietet eine Reihe neuer Features, unter anderem Support für DisplayPort 1.4 (ready), HDMI 2.0b, HDR, Simultaneous Multi-Projection (SMP) sowie verbessertes H.265 Video De- und Encoding (PlayReady 3.0). Performance

Die exakte Performance der GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q kann sich in Abhängigkeit von der Kühlung des jeweiligen Notebooks stark unterscheiden. Nvidia gibt an das die durchschnittliche GTX 1050 mit Max-Q Design etwa 10 bis 15 Prozent langsamer ist als eine GTX 1050. Dadurch eignet sich die Grafikkarte am besten für Full HD und hoher (aber nicht maximaler) Detailstufe.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die Leistungsaufnahme der GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q ist von Nvidia mit 34 bis 40 Watt angegeben (je nach Taktung) und damit deutlich geringer als die 53 Watt der normalen GeForce GTX 1050. Dadurch eignet sich die Grafikkarte auch für dünne und leichte Notebooks.

AMD Radeon RX Vega 56

Die AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 ist eine High-End-Desktop-Grafikkarte, und wurde im August 2017 vorgestellt. Sie basiert auf der Vega-Architektur basiert (Vega-10-Chip) und ist mit dem schnellen HBM2-VRAM ausgestattet. Hinter der AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 ist die AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 die zweitschnellste Grafikkarte, welche AMD 2017 auf den Markt gebracht hatte. Inzwischen sind die beiden Topmodelle von der AMD Radeon VII abgelöst worden.

Das Referenzdesign der AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 bietet 56 CUs mit 1.138 – 1.474 MHz (Boost) Taktfrequenz und 8 GB HBM2-Grafikspeicher mit einer Taktfrequenz von 800 MHz. Dieser ist über ein 2.048 Bit breites Speicherinterface angebunden, was einer Speicherbandbreite von 409.6 GB/s entspricht.

Features

Der Vega-10-Grafikchip wird im 14-nm-Verfahren gefertigt. Der Die misst 495 mm² und vereint  ca. 12,5 Mrd. Transistoren. Beim Vega-20-Chip, welcher bei der neueren AMD Radeon VII zu Einsatz kommt, sind es inzwischen mit ca. 13,2 Mrd. etwas mehr. Insgesamt bietet die AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 3.584 Shadereinheiten. Raytracing- oder Tensor-Kerne, mit denen Nvidia seine neuen RTX-Modelle ausgestattet hat, bietet die Radeon RX Vega 56 nicht.

Performance

Die Leistung der AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 ist mit einer Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 vergleichbar. Mit dieser Leistung sortiert sich die AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 in der gehoberen Mittelkasse ein. Spiele des Jahres 2018 und 2019 lassen sich mit der AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 in hohen Einstellungen und WQHD-Auflösung (2.560 x 1.440 Pixel) flüssig spielen.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die Leistungsaufnahme der AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 wird vom Hersteller mit 210 Watt angegeben. In Sachen Watt pro Leistung hat die Radeon RX Vega 56 gegenüber der Konkurrenz von Nvidia deutlich das Nachsehen, denn die GeForce GTX 1070 ist mit 150 Watt spezifiziert.
