ATI Radeon Xpress X1200

ATI Radeon Xpress X1200

Der ATI Radeon Xpress X1200 ist ein im AMD M690V Chipsatz verbauter onboard Grafikchip für Notebooks und lt. AMD auf Preis/Leistungsverhältnis getrimmt. Basierend auf X700 Design, jedoch mit weniger Pixel- und Vertexpipelines. Manchmal auch als ATI Mobility Radeon X1200 bezeichnet.

Die Taktung des Grafikkerns unterscheidet sich je nach Quelle deutlich. Die Bandbreite reicht von 350 MHz (Wikipedia) - 500 MHz (GPU-Z einiger Versionen). Oft werden auch X1250 und X1270 als X1200 Series identifiziert (RS690M und RS600M Serien) und daher kommt es zu verwechslungen. Der Grafikkern aller Xpress X12xx Versionen ist jedoch gleich und unterscheidet sich nur in der Taktung.

Für Spieler kaum geignet. Nur alte Spiele, wie Quake 3 Arena oder Warcraft 3  lassen sich in 1024x768 mit hohen Details flüssig spielen.  Aktuelle, anspruchsvolle, Spiele wie FEAR, Doom 3, Quake 4 sind kaum oder gar nicht spielbar. Manche Strategiespiele, wie Age of Empires 3 lassen sich jedoch mit minimalen Details knapp als spielbar bezeichnen (20-25 fps). [Getestet mit einem FuSi Amilo Pa 2510]

Der Grafikchip unterstützt Windows Vista Aero Oberfläche und alle 3D Effekte laufen flüssig. Dank HyperMemory wird Aero auch bei hohen Auflösungen (getestet mit 1280x800 + 1920x1200) unterstützt.

Technisch besitzt der Chip 4 Pixelpipelines und (je nach Quelle) eine Textureinheit (mit 2 Vertexshader) oder keine Textureinheit.

Der Stromverbrauch der (Desktop) Northbridge inkl. Grafik sollte bei 13.8 Watt (8 Watt im Durchschnitt) liegen. Die mobile Version sollte dank Powerplay noch einen reduzierten Stromverbrauch (im Durchschnitt?) liefern.
