NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS

Die keinere Version der 7900 GTX mit weniger Shader- und Vertexpipelines und laut Datenblatt auch merkbar weniger Stromverbrauch. Trotzdem nicht für kleine Notebooks geeignet.

Leistungsmäßig ist sie nahe an der 7800 GTX wobei sie jedoch deutlich weniger Strom verbraucht. Trotzdem kommt sie eher bei 17" Notebooks zum Einsatz, da auch sie einiges an Abwärme erzeugt. Dank des 256 Bit breiten Speicherbus ist die Grafikkarte in manchen Spielen schneller als die Nachfolgerkarte 8700M GT mit DirectX 10 Support.

Dank PureVideo Engine kann die 7900 GS auch HD-Videos (H.264, VC-1, WMV, MPEG-2) beschleunigen (und dadurch die CPU entlasten). Im Vergleich zu den neueren 8700M GT Chip fehlen jedoch einige Videofunktionen. > Vergleichstabelle bei Nvidia

Im Vergleich zu Desktop Grafikkarte Geforce 7900 GS ist die mobile Variante geringer getaktet und dadurch auch etwas langsamer (375 versus 450 MHz Chiptakt, 500 versus 660 MHz Speichertakt).

Spieleleistung

Alle Tests sind ungefähre Benchmarkwerte (je nach eingesetzter CPU können sie stark abweichen) und wurden ohne Antialiasing (AA) und ohne Anisotrope Filter (AF) durchgeführt. Mit AA und AF waren moderne Spiele nicht spielbar (<20 fps).
