ATI Mobility Radeon X1600

Die ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 ist die Mittelklasse Grafikkarte für Notebooks der X1000 Serie. Sie ist von der Leistung mit der NVIDIA 7600go vergleichbar. Technisch vergleichbar mit dem Desktop X1600 Grafikchip + Stromsparfunktionen. Zur Zeit des Erscheinens (2006) war sie für alle aktuellen Spiele ausreichend gerüstet (wenn auch nicht in sehr hohen Auflösungen und ohne Anti-Aliasing).

Dank Avivo Technologie unterstützt der Grafikchip die beschleunigte Decodierung von MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, WMV9, VC-1 und H.264 (einschließlich Wiedergabe von DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-ray).

Spieleleistung

Alle Tests sind ungefähre Benchmarkwerte (je nach eingesetzter CPU können sie stark abweichen) und wurden ohne Antialiasing (AA) und ohne Anisotrope Filter (AF) durchgeführt. Mit AA und AF waren moderne Spiele nicht spielbar (<20 fps).

Quake 4: 1024 x 768 Pixel, Einstellungen high -> voll spielbar
Far Cry: 1280 x 800 Pixel, max Einstellungen: 42 fps -> voll spielbar
Splinter Cell - Chaos Theory: kein HDR: 27 fps -> spielbar
Fear: 1024 x 768 Pixel, high GPU und CPU Einstellungen: 30 fps -> spielbar (med/med voll spielbar)
Call of Duty 2: 1280x800, mittlere Einstellungen: 20 fps -> kaum spielbar (bei reduzierter Auflösung spielbar)
The Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion: 1280x800, mittlere Einstellungen: 27 fps -> knapp spielbar
Doom 3: 1024x768, ultra -> gut spielbar
Half Life 2 - Lost Coast: 1280x800, max Einstellungen inkl HDR: 25 fps -> noch spielbar
Star Wars Battlefront 2: 1280x800 und allen Details auf high wurden im Botmatch zwischen 20 und 30 fps -> spielbar
Crashday: 1280x800 und hohen Details -> voll spielbar

Linux Kompabilität

Proprietäre Treiber für Linux stehen für die ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 von AMD / ATI für

  • XFree86 4.3 und
  • X.Org 6.8

und x86 Prozessorarchitekturen (auch 64 Bit) >> hier << zur Verfügung. 3D Unterstützung für XGL und TV-out Support sollten mit den neuesten Treibern möglich sein.

Open Source

Laut dri.freedesktop.org hat die X1xxx Serie keinen alten 2D Radeon Core mehr und wird dadurch nicht durch die Open Source Treiber unterstützt.

"Note that R500 series chips (X1300, X1800 etc) do not have a Radeon 2D core, so are only supported by the vesa driver (no acceleration)."

Es bleibt also nur der normale Vesa Treiber (ohne Hardwarebeschleunigung).
